Job Summary
Live 5-2-1-0 is a community-based participatory research (CBPR) initiative focused on the prevention of childhood obesity in British Columbia. Using a collective impact framework, Live 5-2-1-0 aims to engage multiple sectors, involve local stakeholders, and empower communities to share the evidence-based Live 5-2-1-0 message and create environments that support healthy childhood behaviours. Live 5-2-1-0 is currently active in more than ten partner communities in BC with growing interest from additional communities across the province.
The Live 5-2-1-0 project coordinator is responsible for a range of tasks related to maintaining, sustaining, and evaluating the CBPR partnerships within Live 5-2-1-0 communities. Based on each unique community s needs and priorities, the coordinator supports the creation and distribution of resources and tools, as well as the data collection process to measure their reach and effectiveness. The coordinator also has a central role in translating research findings and disseminating these on a regular basis to community partners through various knowledge translation channels including the live5210.ca website, an electronic newsletter, social media, and community webinars. The project coordinator must be willing to work independently, flexibly and collaboratively to meet the dynamic needs of a CBPR health promotion initiative.
Organizational Status
The Project Coordinator will report directly to the Live 5-2-1-0 Project Manager (K. Charbonneau) and to the Live 5-2-1-0 Project Lead (Dr. Shazhan Amed).
Work Performed
Work performed will include (but is not exclusive to):

• Preparation and submission of ethics applications, and contributing input to grant applications; conducting computerized literature searches as needed, reviewing articles and creating annotated bibliographies based on the articles.
• Preparing documents, including correspondence, reports, newsletters, posters, presentations, and quarterly reports.
• Maintaining and updating lists, databases, and reports.
• Supporting the planning and implementation of inter-community knowledge exchange activities, processes and events to support communication between partner communities.
• Performing other related duties as required.
• Supporting the creation of community-generated resources and production and sharing of generic versions with other communities.
• Contributing to the dissemination of research and evaluation findings to community partners through the Live 5-2-1-0 communications platform - maintaining and updating the Live 5-2-1-0 website, preparing social media content, compiling newsletter articles - and gathering analytics data to evaluate the reach and effectiveness of this platform.
• Supporting communications with partner communities, potential new communities, local stakeholders, and organizational partners to support knowledge-sharing of project updates, new resource development, and community activities and priorities.
• Contributing to the development and implementation of project evaluation activities including drafting data collection tools and consent forms; undertaking data collection and analysis; helping community partners with local data collection and process evaluations.
• Formatting letters, tables and charts.
• Responsible for budget-tracking and processing financial transactions related to managing research expenses and research accounts
• Planning meetings and taking, transcribing and distributing minutes related to research activities.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
All work performed by the research assistant will be reviewed by the Project Manager and Project Lead. Inappropriate judgment or error on the part of the Project Coordinator will result in wasted time and money. Inadequate workmanship will reflect poorly on the project staff and may impact the sustainability of the project.
Supervision Received
The Project Coordinator will report primarily to the Project Manager and Project Lead. It is expected that the Project Coordinator be able to work independently and be pro-active in identifying challenges to the progress of the project.
Supervision Given
The Project Coordinator may be responsible for helping to coordinate and supervise the work of students, volunteers and local community research assistants.
Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of a relevant technical program or a university degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
• Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in public health, or related field will be considered an asset.

• Ability to exercise tact and discretion when handling sensitive and/or confidential matters.
• Superior organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to take and transcribe accurate meeting minutes and follow up on action items with ease.
• Experience with project evaluation, database management, online literature searches and web-based applications (including WordPress and social media management) an asset.
• Attentive to detail, with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
• High degree of computer literacy with ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, internet and electronic mail applications (on PC and Mac OS) at an intermediate level.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, for both academic and community audiences.
• Ability to effectively use MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Ability to type 50 w.p.m. and to operate the normal range of office equipment.
