Snaking River Group (SRG) is a boutique project management consulting firm that specializes in providing services to Indigenous communities, organizations, and governments across Canada. Established in 2021, our mission is to collaborate with Indigenous Peoples to build local capacity and decolonize systems. We are dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships and sustainable outcomes in all our projects.
Nature of Our Projects:
At SRG, our projects span a wide range of initiatives aimed at supporting economic development and resource management initiatives within Indigenous communities across Canada. We are passionate about supporting Indigenous-led initiatives that empower communities and promote self-determination.
Our client base is diverse and includes both national organizations and local communities. We work closely with prominent national entities such as the National Indigenous Fisheries Institute and the First Nations National Guardians Network. Collaborating with these national organizations allows us to contribute to impactful projects and learn from communities outside of B.C.
Additionally, we work closely with local Indigenous communities on Vancouver Island, where we have the privilege of supporting community-driven projects that address unique challenges and opportunities specific to our home region. These initiatives are crucial for building sustainable local economies, preserving cultural heritage, and enhancing the well-being of community members.
Our projects encompass a wide array of focus areas, including economic development, fisheries, natural resource management, environmental conservation, cultural preservation, social programs, and infrastructure development. By addressing the diverse needs and aspirations of our Indigenous partners, we aim to create lasting positive change that honors local traditions, values, and aspirations.
Job Summary:
The Project Coordinator will be an integral part of SRG, working closely with the company's President and Project Management Team to facilitate the successful execution of our local and national projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career growth in the consulting industry, and is best suited for individuals who thrive in a fast paced and ever-evolving work environments.
Responsibilities:
As the Project Coordinator, you will play a vital role in coordinating and managing various projects, ensuring seamless collaboration with clients, data-driven decision-making, and clear and comprehensive reporting. You will also directly support SRG’s President with critical administrative tasks, including but not limited to, updating internal project schedules and tasks (ClickUp, Harvest, Slack etc.), team resource planning, calendar and task management, travel logistics, etc.
Requirements:
We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable candidate with relevant educational and professional experience in project coordination, communications, data analysis, or consulting. As a collaborative team player, you will work alongside colleagues, clients, and partners, fostering strong relationships that promote inclusive, community-driven solutions.
A familiarity with the language groups and governance structures of Indigenous communities on Vancouver Island and a deep understanding of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) will be critical for success in this role. Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is also critical for this role, along with experience using work management software such as ClickUp, Monday and Asana.
The following list of experience and skills would be valuable based on our active projects:
- Experience: Prior experience in qualitative research methods, affordable housing projects, fundraising and grant development, resource management curriculum development, organization start-up tasks (IT systems, data management, HR etc.), website development, Marine Protected Areas, aquaculture, or environmental assessment and Indigenous consultation processes.
- Educational Background: A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., project management, resource management, fisheries).
- Graphic Design: Proficiency in graphic design tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) with a portfolio demonstrating experience in creating visually compelling materials.
