Job Description
Position Summary Of Human Resources Generalist


With a high attention to detail and exemplary initiative, the Generalist, HRA works closely with the Manager, HRA to develop, implement and monitor HR programs, policies and best practices. The primary purpose of this position is to contribute to the overall Human Resources strategy through health and safety activities, recruitment and a wide range of HR functional areas.


Key Accountabilities Of Human Resources Generalist


Health & Safety


  • Responsible for workplace injury documentation; analyze trends and make recommendations accordingly
  • Manage disability claims by monitoring progress of claims and communicating with all parties involved regarding any updates or changes
  • Create and manage a comprehensive return to work program
  • Create and maintain H&S policies in compliance with legislation
  • Conduct risk analysis, identify existing or potential risks associated with specific tasks or equipment; develop and implement plans and policies to address the risks
  • Act as liaison with WSIB and health care practitioners on H&S related matters as required
  • Lead and participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, follow through on all action items
  • Advise, coach and guide managers on H&S issues, ensuring compliance with company standards
  • Coordinate and lead H&S related investigations, inspections and audits
  • Create and facilitate H&S training for employees and managers, and monitor renewal dates for certifications


Recruitment


  • Identify job vacancies and strategies for filling them
  • Work effectively with the management team to define job specifications and recruitment strategies for successful hiring
  • Maintain up to date job descriptions for all current positions, generate job descriptions for new positions and obtain required approvals for any additions or changes
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with top tier universities and colleges by attending off-site career fairs and participating in recruitment activities
  • Develop and implement unique strategies (i.e. social media) to promote the company and attract potential candidates
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze trends and make recommendations accordingly
  • Provide recruitment support including receiving, sorting and filing resumes, candidate screening and posting vacancies internally and externally as applicable


Training


  • Identify corporate training needs and source/develop programs for employee growth
  • Establish relationships with external providers
  • Onboard new hires and train them in our policies and procedures
  • Responsible organizing all training sessions and all documentation
  • Create annual training plans for company based on current and future requirements


General


  • Manage Mobis social media platforms
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Remain current with legislation and leading best practices in HR, taking the initiative to recommend changes that will improve existing systems and processes
  • Resolve employee relations concerns and escalate issues as required


Required Competencies Of Human Resources Generalist


  • Working toward or attainment of CHRP/CHRL designation
  • Ability to research, compile and analyze data/information for use in recommendations and reports
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, juggling multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership and initiative
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Minimum 5 years of being awesome
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with others at all levels of the organization
  • Degree in HR or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years HR experience with a focus on H&S
