Job Description

My Client is a reputable Law Firm with a great working environment and culture. They are currently looking to add a HR Manager to the firm. This will be a standalone HR role and you will be responsible for all aspects of HR. This opportunity is based out of Hamilton and is on a hybrid remote working basis (three days per week in office).


Key Responsibilities

  • Attend management meetings on invitation to provide reports
  • Facilitate onboarding and terminations (including exit interviews)
  • Onboarding – confidential documentation, expectations, etc.
  • Manage HR budget, engaged in preparation of HR budget
  • Day to day issues typical with law firm HR
  • Plan and administer employee benefits; monitor usage/cost and recommend enhancements or changes
  • Run bi-weekly Payroll
  • Develop strategic compensation plans; align performance management systems with compensation structure
  • Create and action HR initiatives and strategies that are in line with the overall business plan
  • Coordinate other law practice acquisitions
  • Manage reception coverage
  • Implement, monitor and update Firm HR policies
  • Review and monitor workplace policies and practices
  • Draft Offer letters/letters of employment
  • One on one meetings with associates ( quarterly, together with the CFO) and Assistants
  • Coordinate retirements and employee recognition
  • Organize staff and firm social functions and events, parties, picnic etc.
  • Manage Leaves (i.e.. short term, long term, maternity/paternity leave, vacation, sick leave)
  • Assist managers & directors with the performance review process
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain high-performing employees; oversee the recruitment, interview, selection, and hiring processes


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working within a Law Firm or professional services setting
  • Experience with recruitment, employee relations, HR policies and procedures, payroll function, benefits administration and other aspects of HR.
  • Experience working as a HR Manager, Generalist or similar level
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize requests.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral skills
  • Strong organizational skills and is capable of working independently with minimal supervision
