Description


As a trusted consultant for a selection of Canadian business units, the Human Resources Manager plays a pivotal role in various HR dimensions. Guiding a compact HR Team, the manager facilitates essential functions including employee relations, recruitment, retention, compensation, talent evaluation, structural planning, resource allocation, learning initiatives, professional growth, policy adherence, and regulatory compliance. Tasked with spearheading people-centric strategies, the Human Resources Manager drives organizational change endeavors and oversees internal and external HR communication. Reporting to the Vice President of HR, this role collaborates closely with senior leadership and management groups within the portfolio, in addition to partnering with other North American HR teams within the same portfolio. As a key member of the global HR management cohort, this individual actively engages in discussions, knowledge sharing, and the propagation of best practices throughout the organization. The position is designed to temporarily fill in for a manager going on a 12-month parental leave due to pregnancy, with potential for extension.


Job Duties


The central responsibilities of this role encompass:


  • Undertaking additional HR-focused initiatives, including evaluating the effectiveness of existing and novel programs as required.
  • Occasional travel as needed; and
  • Proposing and disseminating innovative strategies, policies, and procedures to both leadership and employees;
  • Cultivating robust business alliances and collaborations with internal stakeholders to effectively bolster the talent strategy of the enterprise;
  • Inspiring individuals to strive for excellence; overseeing their growth, encompassing individual and team objectives, coaching, guidance, mentorship, and strategizing;
  • Backing the Talent Management cycle (goal setting, performance management, learning opportunities, development plans, succession schemes, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives) to ensure alignment of employee performance and capabilities with present and future requirements;
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely updating of personnel data in the Workday HRIS system to facilitate proper management of employee compensation, benefits, payroll, and related programs;
  • Upholding adherence to corporate policies, federal/provincial/local labor laws, and regulations to safeguard the company and its workforce;
  • Demonstrating remote work prowess, effectively managing staff and challenges remotely as competently as if physically present;
  • Gathering and dissecting HR data to gauge team efficiency and implementing enhancements to HR services and processes as warranted;
  • Navigating and supervising the complete Recruitment and New Employee Induction processes;
  • Serving as the primary liaison for due diligence during potential acquisitions and facilitating the integration of newly acquired entities within the Canadian business portfolio;


Requirements


Qualifications:


  • Proficiently supervises and assesses team endeavors, establishing well-defined aims and objectives.
  • 2-3 years of experience in managerial roles, encompassing mentoring and coaching.
  • Functions as a reliable consultant for leaders and employees, excelling in navigating challenging scenarios and fostering productive relationships.
  • Approaches interactions with individuals in a candid, empathetic, and open manner.
  • Possesses the skill to empower others, encouraging shared responsibility and visibility.
  • Demonstrates exceptional commitment to customer service.
  • Previous engagement in providing support for extensive matrixed organizations.
  • Precise attention to detail and adept time management capabilities.
  • Exhibits adeptness in applications such as Workday and MS Office, particularly showcasing advanced proficiency in Excel, and demonstrates a fervor for data-driven reporting and management.
  • Exhibits high levels of integrity, honesty, and sound judgment.
  • Brings forth 4-7 years of experience at a Generalist capacity, focusing on employee relations and managing multi-location establishments.
  • Thrives on tackling unfamiliar tasks, swiftly grasping novel concepts.
  • Prior involvement in the technology sector, characterized by high activity volumes.
  • Proficient in navigating the intricacies of mergers and acquisitions processes, with a strong understanding of HR's role within such initiatives.
  • Demonstrates unwavering determination for achieving results, consistently driving both oneself and others towards success.
  • Possesses a profound understanding of local, provincial, and federal labor laws and regulations, coupled with extensive experience in addressing employee relations matters.
  • Comfortable with embracing change, equipped to make decisions and take action even with incomplete information, and at ease with ambiguity.
