Job Description

Our client, a small nonprofit (20 employees), is seeking a Director of HR & Operations downtown Ottawa. This role is a brand new HR position within the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for all office operations, as well as managing all aspects of the organization's HR operations including recruitment & retention, onboarding/orientation, employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, compensation & benefits administration, policy development & enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing a relationship with building management and conforming to lease requirements
  • Managing IT requirements and ensuring everyone has access keys
  • Monitor employee engagement levels via surveys or other methods
  • Manage the recruiting process from sourcing candidates through onboarding new hires
  • Coordinating office moves
  • Implements training programs to ensure employees receive necessary skill development opportunities
  • Develop HR strategies to support company goals
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations

Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing an office preferred
  • 5+ years of HR and operations experience
  • Previous experience working in a standalone HR role an asset
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders as well as external partners such as vendors and benefit providers
  • Strong organizational skills
