Hays Human Resources division in Ontario, are partnered with our client, a leading firm, in the financial services industry, in their search for a Senior People Advisor.

The business is an established, and continually growing and progressive Global Leader in life insurance, who bring extensive experience in their field, and service a variety of clients on the business-to-business end. Due to continued growth and progression planning, the Human Resources team in Toronto is hiring a Senior People Advisor.
Your new Role
Reporting into the VP, Human Resources, the Senior People Advisor, is responsible to deliver support in all areas of HR to your assigned business unit. In this role, you will drive the entire employee lifecycle, including leading recruitment, probation, and performance management, learning and development and employee relations. As the Human Resources Business Partner, you will play a key role in the continual delivery of a professional and credible HR function that supports the business in achieving organizational excellence in all aspects of people management. In your day to day you will be responsible for the following: acting as a point of contact for employees and managers; coaching and training managers, and upskilling and empowering them to effectively lead their teams; handling employee relations matters; relating to absence, performance issues, and disciplinaries; coordinating, drafting and organizing internal HR communication as required to support the HR Generalist; leading and participating in the EDI committee; working alongside the HR Generalist to oversee the HR administration of employee data in Workday; working closely with the Payroll and Benefits teams to ensure all changes affecting payroll have been received; leading the Recruitment process for senior hires, and ensuring a seamless onboarding process for new hires; supporting the Vice President, Human Resources in the effective delivery of projects relating to the areas of Performance Management, Annual Compensation, Talent Cards, Headcount Planning and Budgeting; as well as supporting policy or program changes and training and development initiatives; conducting analysis as required, and reviewing other ad hoc reports and additional projects.
What you’ll need to Succeed
To succeed as the Senior People Advisor you will bring a minimum of 6+ years of progressive HR experience in a solid Generalist capacity, with proven capabilities to act as a strategic Business Partner. You will be solutions focused, proactive, organized, and professional. You will be someone who can easily build relationships with stakeholders at all levels in the organization and be calm under pressure and who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will have education relating to Human Resources, in the form of BA HR and CHRP/ CHRL designation is preferred. You will have a strong technical HR knowledge across a broad spectrum of HR facets (compensation, benefits, learning and development, employee relations, HR Systems, and recruitment). Experience with Workday is considered an asset, and you will have strong Excel skills to be successful in this role. You are detail oriented and have a strong ability to influence and coach.
