Job Description
Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom, no matter who they are or how much they have. Using smart technology, Wealthsimple takes financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and makes them simple, transparent, and low-cost. We're the company behind some of Canada's leading digital financial products, and are growing faster than ever.

Our team is reimagining what it means to manage your money. Smart, high-performing team members will challenge you to learn and grow every day. We value great work and great ideas — not ego. We're looking for talented people who love a fast-paced environment, and want to ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas.

We’re a remote-first team and output is more important than face time, so where you choose to work is up to you — as long as you have internet access, you can work from anywhere in Canada. Be a part of our Canadian success story and help shape the financial future of millions — join us!

Read our Culture Manual and learn more about how we work.

At Wealthsimple, we are building products for a diverse world and we need a diverse team to do that successfully. We strongly encourage applications from everyone regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status. Wealthsimple provides an accessible candidate experience. If you need any accommodations or adjustments throughout the interview process and beyond, please let us know.

About The Role

Our ideal hire has a builder mindset, is detail oriented, action oriented and proactive. They own their role and continuously help identify ways to improve operations processes and controls. It is essential that this person manages time well, keeps on top of deliverables, and has the potential to grow with us. Experience in credit products, prepaid cards or other spend operations functions is a strong plus.

We manage billions of dollars, so the stakes are high. We want to deliver extraordinary experiences that meet our client's on-demand expectations, while being a compliance leader. At Wealthsimple, we are maker-owners, we believe that simple is better, and we do what's right for each client.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for working with a variety of cross functional stakeholders (product, engineering, client experience, and finance) to build end to end processes to support complex financial products
  • Train and collaborate with other Operations team members and support each other
  • Be the voice of the Operations team and advise on key business decisions as it relates to our products
  • Help manage/optimize our relationships with third party vendors
  • Create and optimize existing business processes to improve our efficiency
  • Problem solve to ensure product and customer services are supported, creating the best possible experience for our clients
  • Act as a catalyst by bringing the right teams/people together within and/or across teams
  • Build project plans for chosen projects by setting ambitious deliverables, timelines and metrics; take ownership of essential projects which will in turn, stand up the operational processes needed to support product feature launches
Skills we’re looking for:

  • Proactive & Action Oriented: Acts without being told what to do; taking full ownership of work, and proactively seeks help and input when needed to provide well supported solutions
  • Data & analytics: Has a history of using data to answer complex problems. SQL & modeling skills are an asset
  • Problem solving: If something seems off, you want to figure out what’s going on; you enjoy navigating uncertainty, bringing clarity to ambiguity and don’t wait for a playbook to be written
  • Efficiency: Ability to produce significant output with minimum wasted effort; finds the path of least resistance to the problem definition, solution and execution
  • Relevant experience: Demonstrated success in credit or spend product operations, management consulting, startups, banking and payments, or other operations roles in related fields
  • Strong written and verbal communication: Speaks plainly and truthfully. Communicates complex ideas in a simple & easy-to-understand way for any audience (e.g. engineering, 3rd party vendors, growth/operational teams, executive team)
  • Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with various team members
  • Honesty/integrity: Doesn't cut corners; does what is right, not what is politically expedient
  • Organization & planning: Plans, organizes, and schedules in a productive manner, allowing for a focus on key priorities and regular updates
At Wealthsimple, we embrace difference. We believe that getting to the best outcomes requires diverse perspectives and backgrounds. We create space where all voices can be heard so that we can all do our life’s best work. We’re committed to openness, curiosity and creating an inclusive culture as we know that diverse teams build better products and generate better ideas. We strongly encourage applications from everyone regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status.
