DIRECTOR, PEOPLE & CULTURE
ABOUT SIGFUSSON NORTHERN:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the VP, Business Development and Corporate Strategy, the Director, People & Culture will be responsible to lead, mentor, and develop the People & Culture team. The Director, People & Culture will work closely with the Senior Executive and Management, along with various team leaders, to strategize and implement best practices to maintain a positive culture and influence across the organization.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Pursue and attend networking events, conventions, and participate in business development opportunities
- Understand and research the market, clients, current and potential competitors
- Lead and champion a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Assess and evaluate the company culture and needs of the business
- Lead process improvements, initiatives, and actions
- Structure and delegate the workload of the team and ensure professional development and contribution
- Promote and demonstrate the culture and values across the organization
- Listen, probe, and understand feedback and the thinking process of others
- Mentor, lead, and set direction for the People & Culture team
- Consult with various department leads to provide proactive and strategic guidance and support for organizational planning and development initiatives
- Collaborate with external personnel to find best solutions and practices
- Research, lead, and implement technologies and HRIS systems to improve internal communications, People & Culture initiatives, and company wide processes
- Promote and sell the People & Culture programs and processes to Senior Management and Executive and all other leaders within the organization
- Influence to change behaviours, methods of thinking, and how issues are dealt with at all levels of the organization
- Analyze and research trends and changes in the market that could impact the organization
- Assess, listen, understand, and transform client expectations into solutions and plans
- Report back to Executive and Senior Management and provide overviews of what the organization is doing in regards to personnel
- Strategize, plan, and implement best practices of the People & Culture function
- Provide coaching and conflict resolution support to the leadership team on people management issues
- Advise and provide recommendations, negotiating strategies, and influence across the business
- Manage and provide support to the management team on performance review planning and process
- Strategize, build, and maintain the functionality of the People & Culture department and ensure effective and efficient execution
- Lead and manage the compensation and benefits program
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team is required
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Critical thinking and effective decision-making skills are required
- Minimum 7-10+ years’ experience in a Human Resources/Recruitment/People & Culture role is required
- Experience working with senior level management
- Able to establish credibility with executive and senior management
- Experience with negotiation, strategic thinking, and influencing others
- Influence and motivate others and able to substantiate claims
- Exceptional customer service skills are mandatory
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills are required
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written as well as electronically
- Ability to manage confidential information is mandatory
