Job Description

CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Director, People & Culture!


The Director, People & Culture will be a key player in cultivating CNIB’s culture, using their ability to influence and drive change to support the implementation of our new Strategic Plan. Reporting to the VP, People & Culture, this position will provide day-to-day human resources (HR) leadership and support to a national team of dedicated and passionate professionals to improve the employee experience and integrate CNIB’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility) + belonging strategies.


Your impact at CNIB

  • Review engagement survey results and lead action planning activities to further improve the employee experience and promote a culture of recognition and engagement.
  • Provide counsel and coach management on all People & Culture and employee relations matters while engaging and building strong relationships with employees including leaders at all levels.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to integrating the principles of IDEA + belonging into all People & Culture practices.
  • Develop and deliver People & Culture initiatives that enhance our ability to attract, retain and develop our people to achieve our strategic goals and objectives.
  • Develop and lead talent management and succession planning programs and initiatives.
  • Direct processes related to the employee lifecycle.
  • Coach and support the leadership team in optimizing their people to thrive and meet and/or exceed their objectives.
  • Regularly scan and assess People & Culture issues, trends, gaps, and opportunities that could impact the Organization.
  • Support leadership in talent acquisition strategies and organizational structure reviews and changes

  • Ability to quickly build strong relationships and trust with key business partners in all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to successfully complete multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
  • Strong people leadership skills with the proven ability to engage, motivate and inspire teams to deliver exceptional results.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiations, conflict resolution and decision-making skills


We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset
  • Proven success in project and change management initiatives to support organizational change.
  • Proven success in implementing talent acquisition and talent management initiatives.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in all facets of HR, including developing programs and delivering national HR services.
  • Excellent knowledge of legislation, principles, and practices governing Human Resources management.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.
  • Experience developing and implementing multi-dimensional and organizational wide IDEA + Belonging strategies.
  • University degree or equivalent with CHRL or CHRP designation.
