Director of Human Resources
Permanent, Full-time
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Delta 9 Bio-Tech, a Winnipeg-based vertically integrated cannabis group of companies, with the head office in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as well as operations in Saskatchewan and Alberta, is currently hiring a Director of HR to join our team.
Reporting to the COO, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for supporting and providing guidance to the HR team, management, and employees on all HR related matters by shaping, leading, and managing all functional HR aspects including talent acquisition, health and safety, payroll & benefits, compensation, training & development, and employee relations.
The successful candidate will be a detailed orientated and strong leader who works closely with the other members of the team to ensure the achievement of long-term goals and the effective functioning of all areas in the business from retail, production, and micro-grow business.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
·Plan, organise and manage all activities falling under the scope of the HR department and manage and supervise the work of the HR team;
·Establish, manage and follow-up on the department resources, including budget preparation and revision;
·Ensure that the company is complaint with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures;
·Support all departments by providing counsel on HR and employee relations issues such as the interpretation and application of company polices, working conditions, laws, and policies and procedures;
·Where required, conduct workplace investigations or counsel managers in matters relating to potential termination of employees
·Review all disciplinary files, recommend appropriate action and ensure the respect of applicable internal procedures and guidelines;
·Review staffing, training & development, payroll & benefits, health & safety, and HR priorities and strategy and oversee the various processes;
·Ensure policies and procedures used within the organization align with current process and approach across designated regions we operate in;
·Draft and distribute employee communications;
·Project work as required
·Other duties as required by organizational demands
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
·5 years’ plus in a progressive senior HR leadership role
·Post-secondary diploma or degree in human resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience
·CPHR would be considered an asset
·Knowledge and well versed in applicable legislation for the areas we operate in, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta
·Knowledge of the Cannabis Act and how those effects our daily business requirements
·Excellent inter-personal and customer service skills
·A self starter with experience working and thriving in a rapidly changing environment
·Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications
·Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including employee relations, performance & talent management, health & safety, talent acquisition, payroll & benefits, and compensation
·Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
·Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships of trust with individuals at all levels of the organization.
·Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion and professionalism.
