Job Description

Summary of Position:

Reporting to the CFO, the Vice President, Human Resources (HR) provides overall strategic leadership and guidance for the management of the Company’s human capital. This role is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that align with our overall business objectives, promoting a positive work culture, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. This person will lead a team and collaborate with other senior leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, talent acquisition and retention, employee development, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement initiatives to attract top talent, overseeing the recruitment process and implementing effective onboarding programs.
  • Oversee performance management review processes, including goal setting, performance reviews and development plans.
  • Develop and implement a succession planning process for key positions.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the regional human resource management teams.
  • Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
  • Assist with the resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
  • E nsure employment contracts and related documents reflect current legal terminology, are in-line with current employment law and are sufficient to safeguard the interests of the company.
  • Ensure that basic HR practices and processes are defined, documented & communicated to the regions.
  • Oversee the employee recognition and rewards programs.
  • Develop and implement company-wide strategies to enhance employee satisfaction and reduce turnover.
  • Ensure that company-wide organizational structures are charted and updated as required.
  • Research, develop, and implement competitive employee compensation, incentive & benefits programs.
  • Together with national leadership and the regions, create an overall HR strategy for the company supported by HR priorities & goals aligned on both a National and Regional level.
  • Ensure company-wide compliance with employment law, benefits, insurance, safety, and other regulations, and requirements in all HR and employment related areas.
  • Ensure that HR practices, business processes & employee policies are sufficient and coordinated on a national level throughout all regions.
  • Identify key performance indicators for human resources; assesses the organization’s performance and competitiveness based on these metrics.


Skills

  • Ability to think strategically, influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Extensive computer proficiency with Microsoft suite of desktop tools.
  • Possess strong leadership abilities.
  • Possess strong people skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees including executive management.
  • Sound organizational ability and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and deliver desired results.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of twenty (20) + years of work experience in HR leadership roles of progressive responsibility.
  • CHRE or equivalent HR qualification.
  • This role may require occasional travel within Canada.
  • Automotive experience considered an asset but not required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
