WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Located in Toronto, the Human Resources Representative will provide HR support to the Canadian Operations HR group. This position reports into the Director HR Canada. The HR Representative will be assisting with the workload, which can include supporting the recruitment process, acting as liaison between employees and the HR department, and maintaining employee records. The HR Representative holds a key role in our day-to-day operations and ensures that the company's human resources needs are being met to maintain positive relationships with all employees.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Assists with coordinating annual and one-time facility-wide events
- Coordinates all plant training on legislated issues including harassment, labor standards and human rights. Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
- Assists department with administrative needs
- Coordinates company sponsored programs
- Coaches and supports managers and supervisors on all processes of performance management to ensure that they are understood and being used.
- Serves as consultant to managers on relevant federal and state employment laws; legal, ethical, and work-related issues; HR process, programs and policies; and employee disciplinary issues.
- Maintains the HRIS system (SAP) ensuring accurate data input and integrity are maintained.
- Liaises with local and Operations Human Resources in the administration of payroll, benefits programs, pension plans, and all HR policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains an effective department work environment and creates and promotes harmonious working relationships with other departments and employees.
- Department filing and scanning compliance
- Assists with facilitating company bereavement, service award and tuition reimbursement programs.
- Processes all new hire paperwork, IT forms on-boarding
- Maintains department related information for monthly and quarterly reporting requirements and prepares data as requested on a routine and ad hoc basis.
- Maintain and ensure that employee records are updated as necessary and are accurate
- Liaises with Payroll for compensation and benefits to ensure required forms are accurately documented.
- Assists with Temp to Full-Time conversions (notifications, letters, onboarding paperwork and scheduling and preparing for orientation sessions)
- Assist with all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests
- Provides training on the processes of interviewing, hiring and termination to managers and supervisors.
- Maintains and updates employee communication
- Ensures Company's HR processes are supported and administered in a timely basis including but not limited to, BSC scorecard development, bonus payout, merit increases, employee development (SDV & IDP), climate survey.
- Prepares mailings
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Skills
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively present information to, or respond to inquiries from management, customers, regulatory agencies, or the general public.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, collective agreements, or government regulations.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility to changing work priorities
- Confidentiality of data
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence
Education/Experience -
- A degree from an accredited College or University and/or two to five years related experience and/or training/or equivalent combination of education and experience cement, concrete, construction, or manufacturing industries with quality improvement, project management.
- Experience in a unionized industrial environment is a must. Strong capability in both negotiation and facilitation skills.
Knowledge (technical/practical/managerial) -
- Demonstrated expertise in SAP, Dayforce, Kronos, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
