The HR & Payroll Intern will gain experience and exposure with payroll and corporate human resources. This role will spend 50% of the time on payroll tasks and 50% of time on HR related projects. This role will support our payroll team with preparation and processing of bi-weekly payrolls for teammates across provinces; while adhering to legislative requirements and company policy. The HR & Payroll Intern will provide excellent customer service when responding to internal and external queries, as well as support our corporate HR team with HR related projects.

Responsibilities

Payroll

• Ensure confidentiality of payroll information
• Assist in payroll related tasks including but limited to reconciliation of hours/data, maintaining teammate files, auditing bank information, vacation information etc, updating HRIS as required and supporting password resets, responding to emails and inquiries from teammates on payroll related questions
• Assist in processing bi-weekly payrolls & off cycle payrolls

Corporate HR

• Assist to develop and implement an internal HR Google Site with resources on Talent Attraction, HR policies, etc.
• Support with HR related projects

Skills

• Accurate and detail-oriented
• Payroll knowledge preferred
• Interest in learning more about payroll and HR
• Working knowledge of Google sheets\document,Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred
• Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information and issues with tact and diplomacy
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to prioritize and organize time effectively to meet strict deadlines
• Creative thinking
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Fast-learner and able to work with different systems
