Summary
Working with the Canada Human Resources team, the HR Intern is responsible for administrative tasks covering all aspects of the HR function. This includes updating employee information in the HRIS system (Dayforce), posting job ads, screening candidates, booking interviews, preparing offer letters, filing and other administrative tasks. The role offers extensive experience in the HR function and an opportunity to work directly with staff at various levels of the organization. This role is located at our Head Office in Scarborough and is a full-time internship for a period of 8 months. Our Head Office works with a hybrid working model – three (3) days in office and two (2) days at home.
Responsibilities
- Create new hire packages and assign lockers/badges/locker tag
- Other duties as required
- Support recruitment process including managing job ads and coordinating interviews
- Maintain employees files
- Assist with preparing HR related documentation
- Complete necessary background and reference checks for candidates
- Coordinate temporary associate requests with hiring managers and employment agencies
- Track employee contract expiry list from Dayforce
- Assist HR team with additional and ad-hoc projects
- Monitor Onboarding process (including within HRIS - Dayforce) for all new hires
- Run reports related to temporary associates
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal
- Must be familiar with computers and business software such as MS Office and skilled in Excel
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, operate proactively, work in a team and handle challenges
- Ability to evaluate options and generate solutions
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or studying toward a degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
- Exposure working with Dayforce or any other HRIS system is an asset
