What will your typical day look like?
Within the Controllership team, you will assist with Deloitte’s finance, controllership, and financial reporting activities at each period end. As part of the Controllership team, you will be hands-on in preparing and supporting journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, designing and testing internal and process controls, and assisting in year-end financial statements and tax-year end compliance matters. In addition, you will be called upon to assist team members in various projects, such as: mergers and acquisitions, technical accounting research, and identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation. Note, the Controllership team is a Pre-Approved training office for CPA students.

In this role, the expected qualifications are:
- Enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, with an interest in pursuing a professional accounting and finance designation (i.e. CPA, CFA, etc.)
- Friendly with strong interpersonal skills, logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
- Prior experience in some Finance and Accounting roles and operations would be an asset (i.e. bookkeeping, budgeting and forecasting, tax returns, payroll processing, accounts payables, billings and collections, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with a good working knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, conditional formatting, power query and data validations, etc.
- Candidate preferred location is Toronto
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work in a demanding environment, excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in teams
- Available for an 8-month term as of Winter 2024
