Location: Hybrid. The Partnership’s head office is in downtown Toronto. Candidates can work anywhere in Canada.
Status: Full Time, 12 month fixed term paid internship
Job Level: $25 per hour

Division Overview
The Strategic Partnerships Division leads engagement of partners in Canada’s health system and broader cancer community who are key to implementing practice and policy changes that deliver on the priorities of the 2019-2029 Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control. The division works with the Partnership’s program teams and system partners to develop work plans, monitor progress, and regularly assess new and evolving work to ensure it aligns with the eight priorities of the Strategy. The division also leads communications activities to strategically support and profile the work of the Partnership in driving forward the priorities of the Strategy across partners, stakeholders and the public. The division also oversees a special agenda of working alongside First Nations, Inuit and Métis to drive forward People-specific priorities and actions, outlined in the Strategy, by co-developing and implementing solutions to improving cancer care for those in these communities..
Overview of the Role
The Communications team is looking for a motivated individual with an interest in health-care communications to join our team. The Communications Intern position provides on-the-job training and experience in employee communications, visual design, video production, media relations, digital marketing, and project management. This one-year internship will provide you with the broad range of skills needed to start your communications career along with a well-rounded portfolio of work samples.
The Intern, Communications supports the Communications team in carrying out projects and initiatives to achieve organizational priorities. Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Communications the incumbent provides support across the team and the organization to deliver on project objectives. As a highly organized professional with strong time management skills this position delivers on the tasks of the job while contributing to Partnership’s overall vision to reduce the burden of cancer on all Canadians.
Core responsibilities and activities
Program Specific Responsibilities
- Other: Performs other communications duties as assigned
- Digital marketing: Coordinating small scale projects and digital marketing campaigns as needed
- Writing: Researching, writing and editing clean copy for internal and external channels
- Multimedia production: Supporting multimedia needs for initiatives and projects including visual design/branding and video production/post-production activities
- Providing ongoing support to collect and organize visual asset materials (icon, photos, videos)
- Employee communications: Supporting employee communication activities including employee engagement events and internal communications
- Media: Supporting the media monitoring, research, coverage tracking and measurement
Experience and qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or other relevant discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
- Familiarity with additional software e.g. WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Google Ads, and various social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter
- •Bilingual in both English and French is an asset
- Education or experience with First Nations, Inuit and Métis is an asset
