Job Description
You will work closely with senior professionals as we engage with our national network of 4,000 investors, 2,000 high growth companies and 100 venture funds, angel networks, business incubators and tech accelerators.


The right candidate will play a central role in helping us get out key messages to our national network and amplify the voice of visionary entrepreneurs as they work to gain rapid access to capital via our network of 4,000 investors and 100 of the country’s most prominent venture capitalists, angel collectives and entrepreneur-focused innovation hubs.


You will also have opportunities to amplify the launch of our NACO Academy library of investment-related content, engaging with North America’s most active angel investors and venture capitalists on educational content that synthesizes investment best practices. This role will raise your profile within the investor community and help you build a powerful network, while working closely with NACO’s CEO, Director and VP of Investor Relations in developing communications to our network of investors.

Specifically, as Marketing and Communications Lead you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing NACO's marketing and communications strategies. This individual will work directly with the CEO and the team to create promotional materials and content for various channels, including newsletters, news releases and media engagements.


The successful candidate will be a highly creative individual with excellent writing skills and experience in developing marketing and communication strategies in the venture capital and private equity industries.

About You.

Responsibilities.


  • Collaborate with the design team to create visually engaging marketing materials, including print and digital ads, brochures, and infographics.
  • Write and publish news releases, media backgrounders, news articles, blog posts, and white papers to promote NACO's activities and initiatives.
  • Create and curate content for NACO's website, newsletters, and other communication channels.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing and communication strategies, using data and analytics to optimize results.
  • Develop and implement marketing and communication plans that promote NACO's mission and objectives, with a focus on amplifying the stories of our community.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of NACO's events and conferences, including developing promotional materials and managing registrations.
  • Manage NACO's media relations and act as the main point of contact with journalists and media outlets.


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration or related field
  • Passionate about making an impact
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Take initiative, stay open to feedback, remain coachable, and be transparent with challenges and setbacks (and offer solutions)
  • Mission-driven, passionate about your work, and an exceptional attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the angel investing, venture capital and/or early stage startup ecosystem considered an asset
  • No more than 5 years of experience in marketing and communications, with a focus on venture capital, innovation economy or related industries. Experience working within a fast-paced startup environment is considered an asset.
  • A strong willingness to take initiative and work within a dynamic team
  • Able to take direction with a positive attitude and professional disposition
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills

Benefits


Compensation: The annual salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.


Other: This role is full-time and fully in person on-site at our office at 101 College Street, Toronto, Ontario. Core working hours are similar to the venture capital industry or Bay Street with evenings and weekend work, as required.
