The Communications Assistant is a key member of the YSSN’s Communications Team, responsible for planning and coordinating communications activities for YSSN’s Communications Team. In this role, you will work closely with YSSN’s Communications and Administration Manager and the Communications Team to successfully support our communications objectives.
We are seeking candidates who have versatile experience in communications-related activities, and in particular those who have a creative background. This position may provide a number of important supports to our work from creating dynamic presentations and materials to developing key website and intranet content to posting on social media. Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, disseminate and support various communication efforts, to help plan events, create promotional materials and messages to key stakeholders (e.g., presentations, videos, email campaigns, templates, direct mail pieces, brochures, social media campaigns, internal communication campaigns, etc.)
- Collaborate with Communications Team to coordinate various promotional campaigns
- Maintain and update content on websites and intranet (WordPress andSharePoint experiencewould be definite assets)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Solid understanding of social media channels, metrics, best practices
- Strong organizational and project management skills, attention to detail
- Minimum two years related experience
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Light graphic design experience is preferred (e.g. Adobe InDesign or Canva)
- Ability to use independent judgement and to be self-directed, but able to work as part of a team
- Working knowledge of email marketing software (e.g, Constant Contact)
- Bilingual (French/English) would be a strong asset
- The successful applicant will be required to provide a police clearance that meets agency standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
- A higher education degree that includes formal communications training
- A valid G driver’s license, business use insurance and a reliable vehicle are required for this position
- Working knowledge of content management systems (e.g., WordPress), web analytics an asset
