(FULL-TIME 8-MONTH CONTRACT WITH OPPORTUNITY FOR RENEWAL)

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the ideal candidate is a recent graduate in the fields of Communications, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations, with an interest in local or international business. This position will play a key role in supporting the marketing initiatives of the Toronto Global Marketing & Communications team, with a specific focus on assisting with client announcements (e.g. proofreading, website updates, social media engagement) and building Toronto Global’s international brand awareness, while also providing copywriting and design assistance for our website and for the overall Corporate Communications initiatives in support of our executive team.
The successful candidate will be a part of our hybrid work environment with time split between working in the office and from home. A minimum of three days per week in the office is expected during the first four to six weeks of onboarding
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor media and remain abreast of trends, statistics, news articles and reports that articulate the business advantages of locating in the Toronto Region; identify opportunities to leverage these items on our social channels
- Assist the team with the development and execution of a content calendar and generate content to share across social media channels and on torontoglobal.ca
- Create graphic design and visual communication materials and assist in copywriting for print and digital environments, including websites, social media, newsletters, publications, advertisements, digital marketing assets, thought leadership, etc.
- Constantly expand own knowledge of the Toronto Region and build a solid understanding of Toronto Global’s value proposition for businesses looking to expand to the region.
- Support the development and execution of marketing campaigns to enhance awareness for Toronto Global clients and initiatives
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivation and the ability to be proactive
- Must be a graduate student or recent graduate (graduated in the last three years), in related fields such as Communications, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations
- Knowledge of LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media best practices
- Proficient with Microsoft365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
- Applied communications and/or marketing experience in a business environment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
- Experience with desktop publishing and design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro)
- Experience with content management systems (WordPress)
- Value a culture of teamwork, inclusivity, collaboration, and client-centricity
- Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills
BONUS POINTS IF YOU ALSO HAVE
- Knowledge of or keen interest in economic development, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), or international business and trade is a strong asset
- Knowledge of website and marketing analytics tools such as Google Analytics is an asset
- Proficiency in a second language is a strong asset
- Experience with media monitoring tools (Sprout Social), marketing automation (Pardot), video editing or CRM tools (Salesforce) is considered an asset
