About The Image Centre
The Image Centre (IMC) is Canada's leading institution dedicated to the exhibition, research and collecting of photography. Established in 2012 at Toronto Metropolitan University, in the heart of the city, the IMC welcomes visitors to explore the intersections of photography and culture. Through compelling exhibitions and engaging public programming, the IMC showcases work by emerging, renowned, and anonymous photographers, past and present. With a growing collection of nearly 400,000 photographic objects and an innovative scholarly research program, the IMC is also a vibrant hub for the preservation and study of photography.
The Opportunity
This role's primary objective is to provide support to the Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Officer through various tasks including the coordination of The Image Centre's day-to-day marketing and communications initiatives, social media, email marketing, website maintenance and other tasks as assigned.
Social Media
- Supports social media content production by attending gallery and research centre events and activities as required.
- Plans, writes and publishes engaging social media content, liaising with and incorporating input from various colleagues, and maintains the social media calendar.
- Analyzes and records metrics.
- Monitors digital trends and proposes new ideas for audience engagement and lead generation.
- Implements social media ad campaigns.
Email Marketing
- Coordinates the production of all email marketing campaigns and other communications using MailChimp.
- Maintains existing audience list and helps to grow our audience.
- Analyzes metrics and provides recommendations.
Website Maintenance
- Identifies and coordinates improvements of website format, design and functionality.
- Drafts copy for the website and gathers visual assets.
- Maintains The Image Centre's website with up-to-date content on exhibitions, news, events, publications and more.
Other
- Tracks media coverage and maintains archive of press-clippings.
- Provides additional marketing, communications and public relations support as assigned.
- Participates in regular meetings with the Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Officer to discuss ongoing projects, as well as all-staff meetings to report on project status.
- Liaises with arts institutions, community organizations and other external stakeholders to raise awareness and facilitate cross-marketing partnerships.
Qualifications
- Experience editing and updating websites using CMS systems.
- Familiarity with MailChimp email marketing.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Exceptional writing skills and strong visual communication skills.
- Experience working in a cultural institution, academic setting or the arts is an asset.
- The ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
- Experience with social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- Successful completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in a Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Art History, Photography, Cultural Administration or in a relevant field.
- Comprehensive computer skills including familiarity with various operating platforms and programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite and various Google software.
- An organized and meticulous approach to assigned work.
