Our client in Media & Entertainment is seeking an experienced Director, HR and Operations to join our Team of dedicated HR professionals.


This is a full-time CONTRACT position based in Toronto (potential for contract-to-permanent-hire).


Reporting to the SVP, Finance & Operations, the Director, HR and Operations is accountable for providing expert advice, leadership, planning, direction and effective management of the various functional areas within HR and Office Operations.


As a strategic partner to the business, the Director, HR and Operations will have to develop a deep understanding of our multifaceted operation and will specialize in managing HR and Operations.


  • Foster strong relationships throughout all business units by leading and developing solutions to people related issues.
  • Responsible for HR Operation and Employee Relations functions, including onboarding, compensation and benefits, performance and discipline, HRIS, health and safety, offboarding
  • Collaborate with Recruitment and Payroll HR teams to ensure effective flow of information across HR functions.
  • Develops and implements performance management programs. Monitors effectiveness of the plan and makes recommendations for changes.
  • Develop and constantly improve HR processes and their application across departments.
  • Employee Benefits – Reviews medical and dental benefits plan annually to ensure ongoing competitiveness and recommends cost containment strategies. In collaboration with SVP, Finance and operations, approves annual renewal rates and plan changes.
  • Compensation – Develops and sets equitable salary ranges. Analyzes jobs to determine job level, pay range, and job title; makes recommendations to the compensation committee.
  • Oversees effective hiring process, including but not limited to posting all jobs, reviewing applicants before hiring, approving contracts/salaries, participating in interviews for high-level positions, approving background checks, and providing oversight of the review of new hire paperwork.
  • Lead on various HR projects as may be needed.
  • Develops, writes and updates HR policies, procedures, and best practices to support the desired organizational strategy, structure, and legal requirements.
  • Provide and cater professional advice to different business units on the full scope of human resources functions to ensure legal compliance and adherence to company policies and procedures.


Requirements


Education & Preferred Qualifications:


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a People Leader in HR generalist capacity
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in progressive HR operations and employee relations
  • Previous office management experience would be an asset
  • Professional certification (CHRP)
  • Work experience in high volume and fast paced environment with project management and overseeing multiple initiatives
  • A college/university degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Strong communication and writing skills, excellent organizational and people skills
