Senior HR Manager/Director - North America
Location: Hybrid/Toronto
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive
Job Purpose
This is a newly created key role at OIEG with overall responsibility for the full HR remit in North America. Reporting to the Chief HR Officer, this role will work to establish and drive the operational and strategic people agenda. The role is based in Canada and will also be accountable for HR in the US.
Key responsibilities
- Leads and/or participates in key projects that support business goals and objectives.
- Working with the UK based Learning & Development team to ensure that learning is at the heart of the employee experience.
- Coordination of the compensation the performance and reward cycle.
- Coach and support leaders and managers on dealing with employee relations cases and engaging specialist advisors where required.
- Own the induction process for all new hires ensuring that all relevant compliance trainings are completed, offboarding all leavers including facilitation of exits surveys / exit interviews.
- Business partnering with the North America senior leadership team to drive global strategic people plans for the division e.g., employee engagement initiatives, org design, talent management and succession planning.
- Committed to driving best practice and a positive candidate and employee experience.
- Responsible for transactional people processes including preparation and issuing of all new hire paperwork and owning the onboarding process including all background checks, immigration checks etc.
- Jointly accountable for the processing of all payroll changes
- Responsible and accountable for monthly HR reporting – KPIs and HR software platform maintenance and integration.
- Accountable for benefits administration including management of auto-enrolment.
- Role models and embeds the company Values in all aspects of the local employee experience.
- Work with the senior leadership team on the employee engagement surveys and actions arising from the feedback.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate of a relevant postsecondary or postgraduate program with a focus on HR Management
- Confident in developing policies and processes, using initiative to spot gaps.
- Knowledge of labour laws, ESA, Human Rights Code, etc.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong experience as a Human Resources Generalist
- ‘Can do’ attitude working as part of the wider HR team to deliver the best employee experience.
- Data savvy and experience working with HRIS, Microsoft Suite of Products
- Role models the values.
- Excellent planning, organization, and prioritizing skills
- Member of a professional HR body
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, and professionalism
