The opportunity


Under the supervision of the service line Talent Director, the Senior HR Generalist (known internally as Associate Director, Talent Consultant) acts as a strategic advisor and collaborates with key business leaders on people issues and provides vision, strategic direction, and sponsorship for talent initiatives for a particular service line/area. The incumbent teams with talent CoEs and other HR Generalists (Talent Consultants) to ensure effective support for a particular service line/area.


Your Key Responsibilities


  • Executes major talent processes including compensation planning, performance management, talent development, onboarding / integration, workforce planning and employee engagement strategies across a practice area
  • Acts as a resource to direct reports around challenging/complex work matters, provides career development/coaching as counsellor to select Talent Consultants
  • Coordinates with Learning leader and Development Consultants on L&D program implementation
  • Serves as the first point of contact on employee relations issues; manages/handles issues as appropriate (communicating with Talent Team, GCO and practice leadership); escalates issues, as needed
  • Coordinates and communicates extensively with Market, Sub Service Line and Competency leaders to design and deliver talent initiatives; provide coaching and guidance to support Consulting's strategic growth agenda
  • Works closely with Recruitment, Experience Management, and practice leadership to deliver effectively against the workforce plan
  • Utilizes solid understanding of the firm's tools, processes, protocols, and service line knowledge to either make or provide recommendation on decisions relative to specific ongoing talent functions and unique projects and initiatives
  • Serves as first point of contact for senior leaders in select practices/areas in all talent matters
  • Leads all aspects of program design, planning, and implementation of one or more national talent programs across Consulting service line, working closely with the Talent team and the practice. Examples may include performance management, People Pulse/employee engagement, retention strategies, Next Wave Careers, Counselling Circle strategy etc.
  • Coordinates with Talent Shared Services/HR enablement to ensure proper handling of administrative issues and needs.


Skills And Attributes For Success


  • Acts as project manager for large projects or directs many activities of a major staff function
  • Ability to network, utilize and leverage internal subject matter experts and resources
  • Is highly seasoned and recognized for their expertise within and outside their business unit,
  • Understanding of internal practices and procedure


To qualify for the role you must have


  • Experience across a diverse set of HR responsibilities for a large business unit or practice
  • Detailed knowledge of HR laws and practices and ability to apply law in various situations
  • This role involves interaction with internal and external clients and professionals nationally and globally. Professional competency in the English language is therefore a requirement of this role. Bilingualism in both French and English is considered an asset.
  • 10+ years related experience
  • Experience leading discussions with senior leaders around key talent matters
