CPP Investments is hiring a Senior Advisor, Global Mobility. This is an opportunity to work within all aspects of Global Mobility (including immigration counsel, relocation management company, talent mobility programs) and includes advisory services and talent mobility operations. It is also a unique opportunity to participate in projects, and contribute towards operational efficiencies, and modernization of policies and the function.


The Senior Advisor, Global Mobility is a key member of the Global Mobility Team. The position reports to the GLT-MD, Head of Talent Operations and works together closely with the other members of the Global Mobility team. The Senior Advisor will collaborate with colleagues across Talent Operations (Payroll & Benefit Operations, HRIS), Employees, Business Leaders, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and Legal, tax and relocation management partners in Canada, US, UK, HK, Australia, India, UK and Europe.


The successful hire will be an experienced and detail-oriented contributor who enjoys managing all aspects of talent mobility for a diverse population of international employees. With Global Mobility being an important aspect of our talent development culture, the role has a significant impact in enhancing our employee value proposition, advancing our competitive advantage as an employer, and supporting our talent strategy.


Role-Specific Accountabilities :


  • Oversee relocation and international assignment processes by managing timelines, and working with employees, managers, and vendors to meet start dates, and immigration requirements while providing end-to-end employee support.
  • Provide Global Mobility advisory support and counselling to all levels within the organization, including senior leaders.
  • Provide subject-matter-expertise and advisory support to business leads, employees and HR colleagues on matters related to CPP Investments’ Mobility programs (International Assignments, Permanent Transfers, New Hires relocations, Immigration Support) and Compliance Programs (Immigration Policies, Short Term Business Travel)
  • Work closely with immigration counsel to prepare, review and finalize work permit support documents with accuracy and consistency
  • Work closely with other members of the Global Mobility team to provide guidance, leadership and training as needed
  • Active participant in special projects, data analysis and other duties, as required.
  • Participate in vendor management, including identifying and rectifying issues in a timely manner with a view to improve our employee experience
  • Work with external legal counsel and Business Leads to solve complex immigration case planning for foreign worker population in predominantly Canada, US, UK, and HK. Ability to expand knowledge into additional regions (India, Brazil, Australia, Europe) also required.
  • Partner with external vendors to ensure employee and organizational needs are met and issues are resolved.
  • Analyze exception requests to policies (Assignment, Relocation, Immigration), understand trends and assess opportunities for process and program improvement
  • Prepare and finalize documentation related to assignments (such as cost estimates and assignment letters)

  • Innovative change agent and efficiencies expert keen to revamp or develop new processes to standardize support model to improve / minimize operational impacts.
  • Problem solver, with ability to accurately identify issues, examine various options, and drive optimal solutions that are aligned to organizational, business and employee requirements.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, energetic, and adaptable in a high-performance culture.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Advanced communication and advisory skills combined with customer service orientation. Experience as an expat or assignee is a plus.


Requirements:


  • Analytical and superior ability to come to sound decisions on complex issues, with tact and consideration to sensitive and urgent issues.
  • Comfortable manipulating data and leveraging Global Mobility data to extract insights and trends.
  • Exemplifies our Guiding Principles of integrity, partnership, and high performance.
  • Experience working with global immigration counsel and relocation management organizations is required. US Immigration is an asset.
  • Advanced written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Advanced practical experience using MS Excel, Outlook is required. Experience working in additional systems (HRIS, Workday, Sharepoint, Weichert Go, EYI, INS Zoom) is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a corporate Global Mobility function is required.
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant work experience, ideally with a professional designation such as GMS, CHRP/CHRL or CERP an asset.
