Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence (BI) – Management Analytics, the Associate will build relations across Departments and Technology partners, familiarize themselves with the existing application to support the requirement documentation process for migration to Cloud based platform. Within the Finance department, the BI team is responsible for delivering financial data within the organization, manage and support self-serve tools, manage internal views of data used by Fund Managers, Accounting, Finance, Performance and Senior Management. This role requires basic understanding of Accounting and Investment Performance calculations


This position requires knowledge of investment products related to Public Markets, Derivatives, Real Estate, Private Equity and Credit Investments, experience working with investment accounting systems, a passion for data and understands how data quality contributes to an effective business.


Role-Specific Accountabilities:


  • Test IT deliverables by performing UAT
  • Understanding of Agile (Scrum) methodology and eliciting requirements in JIRA as stories
  • Understand the existing application and document the requirements for future state transition to Cloud based application
  • Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects with occasional ad-hoc requests and manage time to achieve optimal results.
  • Understand and analyze data from various sources using SQL tools and Python programming language
  • Work with the team and Project Manager(s) to create feasible timelines, identify project risks and actively resolve issues.
  • Understand Market Data from sources like RIMES, MarkIT, Bloomberg, etc. and convert related requirements into documentation
  • Analyze impact of system enhancements on existing processes because of dynamic nature of the business
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of the team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with the Product owner and stakeholders from different departments to gather and elicit clear requirements for technology team to deliver
  • Provide support to end-users as needed


Qualifications


  • Professional designations such as a CFA, CPA are considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Familiarity with Finance, Accounting, Performance calculation principles
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics or Computer Science stream, or a related field
  • Proficiency in writing business requirement documents and track record of performing user acceptance testing for deliverables.
  • Knowledge of Agile (Scrum) methodology and familiarity of working with a Product Owner is considered an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and experience working in a cross-department team environment
  • 5-7+ years of business analysis experience working on complex projects.
  • Proficiency working with programming languages (SQL, Python etc.)
  • Familiarity with Market Data from RIMES, Bloomberg, etc.
  • Demonstrated a quality for learning new concepts and skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
