OVERVIEW
This challenging, highly visible role reports directly to the Vice President of HR for North America and provides HR support across the company for both union and non-union employees in Canada.
This newly defined role results from the continued growth of the company and the resulting increased demand for more consistent and uniform HR services and also reflects the company’s commitment to its team of highly valued staff. The initial need of the role is to enhance HR support throughout the organization using an HR Strategy intertwined with the company’s overall strategic goals.
The Senior Manager of Human Resources provides leadership in shaping an equitable and inclusive culture that drives diversity, excellence, and innovation by supporting talent acquisition and development, union and labour relations, engagement, and employee experience, thereby creating an atmosphere where employees are inspired to give their very best.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE
- Provide customer/client-focused talent acquisition support and advisement to all internal HR client groups in line with goals, policies, and legislative requirements
- Provide high quality coaching and service to management employee relations and performance management issues
- Establishes and administers the procedures and mechanisms for the effective management of conflict and grievance resolution
- Recommends, establishes, and monitors the company’s policies and implementation plans
- Lead strategic and organizational development plans to ensure the personal, professional, and organizational goals of the employees are met
- Lead strategic direction of the DEI and anti-racism policies to promote and imbed these ideals throughout the company
- Managers a growing HR department
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM
- Knowledge of manufacturing & unionized environments in Canada is required. Knowledge of US environments is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline (Master’s preferred) combined with Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation
- Computer literate; proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
- Strong understanding of systemic issues, the legal and legislative frameworks related to human rights and equity
- Working with payroll and benefits specialists in Finance to help administer applicable benefits programs
- Experience managing training and development strategies, including compliance
- Experience supervising professional staff and managing a team
- Managing and addressing conflicts and disputes, including human rights and equity-related issues
- Strong working knowledge of employment law issues and employee and labour relations
- Professional communication skills to effectively engage community members on what can often be contentious and delicate issues
- Strong communication skills ; bilingual in English and French, required
- Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and performance management systems
- Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with others with high emotional intelligence
- 5+ years of HR experience at a senior level, such as HR Manager or HR Business Partner
