Job Description

Our client has been in business for 25 years. A well-established and growing construction company. At this time, they are looking for an HR Manager who understands the construction industry and has local contact to support recruitment. The HR Manager will be reporting directly to the owners and will work closely with the Health and Safety Manager, Project Managers, and Operations Managers. You will travel to construction sites across the lower mainland to support managers with performance reviews, interviews, and discipline and to bring positive feedback to the teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
  • Mitigating conflicts/employee concerns
  • Managing the recruitment and selection process
  • Benefits/Time off/Employee info
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs.
  • Enforcing company policies and practices
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
  • Nurture a positive working environment.
  • Developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital.
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program.
  • Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience handling highly confidential and special information, including sensitive, strategic, and organizational issues
  • Experience working in the Construction industry preferably in our local market
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of HR functions, practices and principles pertaining to staffing, compensation, benefits, health and safety laws, and regulations, training, and development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in training and development, compensation, organizational design, or employee relations is an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business,
  • Current and in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to human resources and employee management, including workers’ compensation, and provincial employment laws
  • Ability to take initiative, make independent judgment/decisions
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • CPHR designation or working towards
  • Five years of HR experience
  • Project management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • Computer literacy with extensive software proficiency covering a wide variety of applications
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future trends/consequences and create innovative strategies and flexible plans
  • Time management and priorities management skills
  • Analytical and goal-oriented
  • Ability to approach duties with integrity and fairness combined with the flexibility and courage to shift direction and experiment with new initiatives.
