Human Resources Generalist (Contract)

We are looking for a dynamic professional to join our organization as a Human Resources Generalist. This is a 12-month contract position (to cover a maternity leave). This person will support our HR practice across all Tessera Group brands including George A. Wright & Son Toronto Ltd. (Scarborough), MD Packaging Inc. (Uxbridge), and Penmar Automation Inc. (Newmarket).

About the Role:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating human resources policies, programs and practices.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
• Be well-versed in laws and regulations related to human resources
• Work towards improving company policies and procedures
• Administer benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
• Implement and administer employee policies and promote positive employee relations
• Manage and monitor performance-related issues and implement changes that could increase productivity
• Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee and health and safety related initiatives
• Lead the recruitment process, including posting open positions, candidate screening and assessment and coordinating and participating in interviews
• Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training and development initiatives

Qualifications and Skills:

• Ability to work in office (the majority of your time will be spent in the Scarborough location with occasional travel to the facilities in Uxbridge and Newmarket)
• Strong organization skills with ability to prioritize, plan and execute
• Excellent communication, conflict resolution and analytical skills
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• CHRP designation a strong asset
• Self-motivated, strong hands-on work ethic
• Diploma or Certificate in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience in Human Resources
• 3-5+ years’ experience in an HR generalist role. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
• Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to take ownership
• Sound knowledge of employment legislation
