Reporting to the Director, Human Resources the Manager, Human Resources will support the overall provision of Human Resources strategy, services, policies, and programs. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to the HRD to ensure alignment and effective delivery of Human Resources services.
You must be relatable, hands-on, and comfortable engaging with employees at various levels in the organization, from the production floor to senior leadership. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to balance administrative and business needs versus operational constraints.
In partnership with cross functional stakeholders, you will play a critical role to improve organizational effectiveness by building and implementing HR programs and initiatives that are aligned with the talent and capability needs of the business. To do this successfully, you must be able to manage through ambiguity and complexity, create and simplify processes, and simultaneously support and prioritize varying requirements impacting the organization.
What will you be doing:
- Support the development of workforce plans across the businesses that ensure optimal and effective resourcing levels to service the needs of the business in the short and long term.
- Support the Director, HR in the development and implementation of a short- and long-term Human Resources strategic plan, ensuring continued alignment with overall organizational goals and objectives.
- Perform all other tasks as required or assigned to ensure departmental and overall organizational effectiveness.
- Support the development and lead the implementation of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (‘DEI’) actionable strategy.
- Ensure accurate HRIS data integrity and management. Leverage HR data to support people related decisions made by HR and business leaders.
- Manage a proactive disability management program that focuses on employee well-being and absence management.
- Manage and oversee the daily direction of the Operational HR team.
- Oversee HR activities and ensure that the interests of employees and the business are considered in accordance with HR policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop key metrics and analytical tools to clearly present results and overall functional effectiveness.
- Ensure effective and legislatively required policies and procedures are in place, communicated, enforced, and updated as necessary.
- Ensure employee relations matters are handled professionally and effectively.
- In coordination with the HRD and management stakeholders, develop and implement training and development programs, specifically leadership/senior management development plans to ensure long term organizational effectiveness.
- Measure and foster continuous improvement through employee listening and engagement strategies, support the execution of an enterprise-wide survey, ensuring effective communication of results and follow through of action plans in alignment with the overall company strategic plan.
- Support the implementation of a competitive total rewards program.
- Act as a key partner in organizational design, ensuring individual departments are organized for effectiveness and efficiency and the right skills and capabilities are in place, at the right levels.
- Partner with managers to implement and drive change management programs to support business strategies and initiatives.
- In alignment with the HRD and senior management, identify human resource related risks and issues, conduct/support investigations (where appropriate and required) and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies and associated action plans.
- Act as the company’s cultural ambassador, focusing on promoting and modelling the organization’s unique values and culture.
- Implement core HR programs to support a culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and best-in-class performance all the while never losing sight of collaboration and respect.

- 5+ years of management level HR experience gained in a spectrum of environments with proven expertise as a hands-on, approachable leader and trusted advisor.
- A relevant undergraduate degree and CPHR designation.
- Embraces technology as a tool to enhance management practices, increase productivity, and optimize the level of service delivery.
- Possesses a strong commitment to business process improvement, with a focus on efficient delivery of HR services.
- Ability to manage and maintain private and confidential information with a high degree of professionalism.
- Is highly energetic with a strong hands-on work ethic - exhibits contagious enthusiasm while projecting a level of maturity required in a leadership position.
- Strong HR business partner with broad level HR experience in employee relations, HR/people analytics, performance management, talent development and training, and talent acquisition
- Extensive knowledge of both Provincial and Canadian Labour and Employment Laws.
- Strong track record of developing and implementing a cohesive set of HR policies and procedures in a diverse environment.
- Exhibits human resource, operational, and strategic capabilities combined with solid business acumen and financial discipline and understands that HR is a service provider to the operations.
- Brings an ability to 'think outside the box'; has a proven track record of creative problem-solving and consensus building skills necessary for addressing sensitive business problems.
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce, specifically the payroll, performance management, recruitment and compensation modules is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and present at the senior management level.
