Role Overview and Purpose:
Reporting to the Canada West Regional President, and working closely with senior leadership, the VP Human Resources Operations is responsible for the people strategy for HUB Canada West which consists of 1,200 employees in over 60 offices throughout the region. Inclusive in the role is development and implementation of strategy, policies, practices and programs for talent attraction and retention, people development, compensation, benefits, compliance to labour laws and regulations and liaison for government and other regulatory agencies and ministries. This position leads a team of 6 local Human Resources professionals dedicated to Employee Relations, Compliance and Operations and leverages enterprise-wide HRIS, Benefits, L&D, and Payroll shared services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring training and development paths and programs are in place and being completed
- Ensure a recognition program is in place and lead follow-up for feedback and opportunities for improvement
- Ensure effective use of the performance and talent management culture including KPI bonus program
- Provide leadership with annual engagement survey, communicate results and action plans
- Working with the Corporate HR team to develop new programs and to deploy at the local HUB level
- Working with the Corporate HR team and collaborating with the SVP HR, Canada to advance overall people priorities and delivery of service
- Manage communication and participation of the HUB Benefits, as well as provide feedback and work with HUB Corporate on benefits improvements
- Maximize the use of existing tools such as Workday, LMS and Insight; ensure proper resources, training and tools are available to management and employees
- Working with the Senior Leadership team to set people strategy including culture, talent attraction, compensation, development and succession in the best interest of the region
- Responsible to ensure Human Resource policies and practices meet corporate, legislative, and legal requirements for HUB International
- Ensuring recruitment and retention practices are effective and meeting operational needs
- Manage the overall HR department, inclusive of the local payroll function
- Onboarding of new employees including onboarding and change management of M&A activity
Qualifications and Experience:
- Solid business acumen and understanding for financial services retail delivery
- Strong interpersonal skills including negotiation, expectations management and facilitation skills
- Progressive successful experience in Human Resource management with at least 3 years in a senior-level position
- Completion of Post-Secondary Education; MHRM or CPHR designation considered an asset
- Results oriented with a track record of effective service delivery
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Highly responsive with strong orientation towards customer support
- Strong employment law and legal knowledge
- Effective collaboration leadership skills including decision making, project delivery and change management
