A Bit About Us

Gamemode One was founded 5 years ago to do things right in the Minecraft gaming space - especially to do right by our staff, and right by our players. We care deeply about our vibrant company culture, which enables us all to do our best work. We work on exciting licensed content in our Minecraft division, and we are looking to scale to meet our full potential in other ventures while continuing to prioritize staff-wellbeing and making excellent games.


The Opportunity

In our growing organization, you’ll be strengthening the foundational systems that support healthy teams to make great games. You’ll support the changing needs of the company, including building HR metrics and supporting hiring and onboarding. You’ll set up accessible documentation on HR practices and policies to help staff confidently navigate the workplace.


You’ll become familiar with all parts of our staff lifecycle to build high-quality processes that enable staff to do their best work. You’ll be a driver for positive change to Gamemode One’s administration and set up HR systems that help the whole company achieve long-term goals. You will not just be working at a great company, but actively working to make it better for those around you.


Within 1 month, you’ll…

  • Learn existing documentation, policies, and software, and identify present strengths, weaknesses, and needs
  • Understand the present and long-term goals of Gamemode One and how that informs your role
  • Assist with preparations for payroll, learn how to use our HR information system, and provide suggestions on onboarding the team to that system
  • Demonstrate cultural and values alignment by leveraging inquisitiveness and courage while learning


Within 3 months, you’ll…

  • Review contracts and staff data for consistency and errors, and update as necessary
  • Organize payroll and benefits administration independently
  • Help schedule interviews, and aid in applicant sorting and pre-screening
  • Provide feedback on the ongoing refinement of systems that underpin the employee lifecycle
  • Prepare onboarding documents and add new hire data into the HRIS


Within 6 months, you’ll…

  • Guide the onboarding and offboarding of staff
  • Complete the first version of an Employee Handbook that makes all existing policies accessible and easy to reference
  • Build an ongoing model for staff surveying and HR metrics, as well as the presentation of this data
  • Assist with the required documentation to support employee relocation


Within 12 months, you’ll…

  • Collect, decipher, and present on HR metrics
  • Evaluate the success of present systems against the needs and values of the company, and iterate accordingly
  • Organize cultural initiatives, such as events that support ongoing staff development
  • Organize and maintain smooth administration of benefits, compensation, and contracts
