POSITION TITLE:Finance Coordinator/Officer
REPORTING RELATIONS: Finance Manager and Project Manager, Grant Project
COLLABORATIVE RELATIONS: Other departments, Management, Stakeholders
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Finance Coordinator/Officer is responsible for handling all accounts payable related functions, and all financial requirements for the grant project. They work collaboratively to ensure all financial needs of the organization are met and provide support in their capacity as the Finance Coordinator/Officer personnel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in streamlining accounting processes; understands compliance issues and AP processes
- Maintaining accurate and up to date financial records and files
- Verifies financial transactions; ensures proper backup and approval of invoices, allocation to appropriate cost centers, and cheque processing.
- Reconciles and prepares monthly account analysis; verify and investigate discrepancies
- Data input into accounting software and documentation of accounting records
- Process all outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Review and reconcile various GL accounts, including revenue, expenses, prepaid, deferred accounts and others as necessary.
- Using online platform for payment processing.
- Assist in month, year-end closing, and audits
- Performs routine and adjusting entries as necessary
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Working with the finance team to resolve account issues
Work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator to complete all financial requirements for the Grant Project. Key requirements include completing Estimate of Expenditure Reports (EERs), Statement of Revenue of Expenditure Report (SRER), calculate tax rebates or input tax credits, and ensure completion of audited financial reports/statements.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure to meet competing deadlines.
- University/college education in accounting or equivalent.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite - Excel in particular.
- 3-5 years of relevant finance experience. Government Grant experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial processes and controls.
- Experience using Microsoft Great Plains is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a non-for profit organization is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Some overtime may be required.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $55,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
