Home and Community Care Support Services is looking for a Finance Coordinator with experience in corporate accounting, finance, billing and reporting. Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Finance Coordinator provides financial administrative support to the finance department specifically accounts receivables, payables, billing as well as analysis to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial and statistical data with respect to the general ledger, internal and external submissions in accordance with Management Information System (MIS) standards.

What will you do?
Corporate Accounting/Finance
- Supports the cash management process
- Responsible for processing payments through financial system and online direct deposit
- Supports weekly cheque runs and the preparation of manual cheques when required
- Responds to bank enquires in relation to banking activities
- Reviews bank deposits, monthly bank statements maintenance, bank reconciliation
- Assists the Manager, Finance in maintaining appropriate internal control systems and ensuring procedures are in place to safeguard financial and other assets of the organization
- Assists with verification of payroll related payments
- Compiles data for year-end balance reconciliation
- Maintains General Ledger (GL) integrity by ensuring accuracy and compliance with MIS and the approved budget
- Prepares and posts month-end purchase service accruals and all year-end accruals
- Verifies accuracy of costs, quantities, allocation and backup to appropriate expenditures accounts
- Verifies the internal control system as it relates to bank deposits
Billing
- Support the billing and payables process, ensuring the correct amounts, allocations, etc. are accurate and timely
- Liaise with Stakeholders across the organization to coordinate collective resolution in case of discrepancy or noncompliance with contract
- Responsible for regular billing analysis
- Responsible for producing and analyzes billing reports for management
- Reviews contracts with clients and provides expert feedback to stakeholders
- Reconciles the GL financial and statistical billing records with billing system
- Conducts investigations on billing and issues
- Maintains efficient client record keeping (digital and physical) adhering to strict organization privacy policies and procedures
- Provides interpretation, advice and technical guidance to Accounts Payable staff in matters of financial processes and procedures
- Assists with the preparation of accounts receivable invoices related to expenditure recoveries as required
Reporting
- Provides weekly/monthly analysis billing fluctuation and identifies trending and risk as it relates to billing
- Conducts the reconciliation based on MIS guidelines and is responsible for ensuring accuracy of the statistics reported for the quarterly report to the Ministry of Health/Ontario Health (MOH/OH)
- Compiles, analyzes and supports the Manager and Director of Finance to ensure accurate submission of financial and statistical reports
- Runs ad hoc reports and provides analysis of the expenditures to senior management, client services, auditors etc.
What must you have?
- Training in tools, systems and databases used in budgeting and accounting
- Experience / working knowledge in financial reporting and analysis
- Four to six years’ experience in accounting and finance administration/procedures and maintaining confidential financial files
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) procedures, and MIS standards
- University degree or College diploma in Finance or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Actively pursuing a professional accounting designation (e.g. Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA) or equivalent)
- Ability to handle pressure in a fast paced, changing environment
- Excellent planning, time-management, multi-tasking and organizational skills
