Fitness Coordinator

Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the incumbent is responsible for the creation and implementation of a broad range of programs in the areas fitness and wellness. The individual is responsible for guiding and assisting the part-time staff needed to operate the programs. The incumbent may also teach classes and work with our high-performance teams in a secondary capacity, especially in the summer months.

Responsibilities

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Assists in the recruitment, training & scheduling of all appropriate part-time fitness staff (eg. Personal trainers, fitnessinstructors.)
• Direct design and delivery of various fitness classes (ex. Spin, Boot Camp)
• Develops & implements a training manual for personal trainers & fitness instructors.
• Provides guidance & direction in the areas of personal training & fitness classes
• Develops, promotes and delivers special events related to specific theme months
• Develops, promotes & delivers a broad-based fitness/wellnessprogram
• Develops, promotes & delivers a cross campus wide fitness/wellness incentive program.
• Responsible for risk management ie. Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaires (Par-Q) & adherence to Rules &Regulations.
• Assist with the implementation and execution of high-performance varsity strength and conditioning program
• Coordinates personal training & fitness assessment sessions with personal trainers/fitnessassessors.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

• Fitness administration with fitness instructional capabilities
• Valid First Aid/CPR-C
• Current and relevant Fitness certifications
• Familiar with fitness program design and implementation
• Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
• 1 year of experience in a Recreational/Fitness facility
• 2-year diploma in Health, Wellness, and Fitness or post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or Physical Education
