Summer Student 2023, Human Resources

Job Purpose

The HR Summer Student will be exposed to operational and project work of the Human Resources department.

Qualifications Required

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree with a focus on Human Resources, Business or a related program.
• Effectively communicates concepts and ideas, verbally and in writing, in a clear, articulate manner.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently and with a team with minimal supervision.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, in particular, use of Outlook, Word, Excel and MS SharePoint.
• Committed to producing accurate and thorough work product under tight deadlines.

Under Supervision, The Student Will Assist With

• Records management project – the intern will assist with digital employee file creation, review offsite storage, and do work in the confidential HR file room to box, document and send old files offsite.
• Developing a SharePoint data storage system for the department’s file and data management needs.
• Once the file taxonomy has been developed, the student will review and align the confidential HR data currently housed in network drives into SharePoint in a careful and considered manner.

The working arrangement for this position has been classified as hybrid, where the employee will regularly flex their work location between home and office.
