The Senior Manager, FinTech Partnerships & Innovation is responsible for identifying and acquiring new capabilities, driving innovation, creating new business models, and accelerating the Bank’s digital transformation through partnerships with Fintechs. The incumbent collaborates with both internal business stakeholders and Fintechs to identify, design, and execute opportunities through proofs-of-value, co-development, and incubation.

Product Development
  • The design and execution of proofs-of-concepts
  • You will articulate a compelling vision and actionable steps for partnerships and innovative solutions, including:
  • Stay at the forefront of market developments related to emerging technologies and business models and understand the implications, opportunities, and threats for Business Lines
  • You will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to understand their priorities, uncover problems, and determine unmet needs and market opportunities
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct research, ideate and develop solutions, and take them to market
  • Co-development and incubation of products and new business models
  • You will identify potential FinTech partners and solutions that will enhance customer experiences, drive revenue and cost savings


Ecosystem


  • You will analyze the marketplace to understand key trends in FinTech and emerging technologies, and support the production of thought leadership documents on H2/H3 trends
  • Act as a conduit and anchor between the ecosystem and internal partners by making strategic connections, fostering communication, and knowledge exchange
  • You will manage relationships with the Bank’s external ecosystem, including start-ups, venture capital firms, academic partners, and accelerators to identify solutions and solve problems


Team


  • You will support the preparation of presentations and material to communicate the Bank’s innovation strategy to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring continuous alignment to the business strategy
  • You will help build and improve our innovation practice, enhancing existing processes and preparing and/or updating our playbooks.
  • You will motivate, develop, and inspire others; encourage team development; promote positive inter-team interactions and bring a high-level of enthusiasm

  • You have 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry – with a Bank or Fintech - and good knowledge of financial products
  • You have experience developing and launching mutually beneficial products or solutions with partnerships

Purpose


Scotiabank Prime Services is looking for an Associate Director/Director of Sales to join our team to support existing and prospective alternative fund managers in Canada. As a leading provider of global cash and synthetic financing, our business operates globally out of hubs in Toronto, New York and London. We are looking for a generalist financing executive with a proven track-record of institutional sales success that spans several market dislocations.


Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Scotiabank Prime Services Sales, our new team member will focus on prospecting and coverage of alternative mutual fund and private fund managers. Our sales professional will collaborate with our partners in Scotia Global Banking and Markets (GBM) across Treasury, Risk, Transition, Onboarding, Credit, Legal and Sales & Trading desks – with a mandate to strengthen our leadership position in alternative manager financing.


Is this role right for you?


  • Manage a pipeline, leveraging our CRM infrastructure to provide regular updates on balances, ROA, risk to Prime Services management
  • Monitor and identify regulatory change and investment product innovations
  • Supporting and delivering our GBM sales strategy for Alternative Mutual Fund managers
  • Identify, source and close new prime brokerage sales opportunities, particularly with traditional asset managers moving into alts
  • Manage projects associated with client accounts serving as the central point of contact for the client for various KYC, Credit and regulatory initiatives
  • Act as a control point to ensure a client is properly set up before a client is allowed to trade
  • Analyze and resolve any client issues in a timely and efficient manner as relates to the onboarding process while acting as an intermediary between various internal support groups such as GCM Onboarding, GCM Banking, GCM Documentation, Legal, Client Services and the Middle Office
  • Manage the transition process for new and existing clients from post-sale until go-live across the various trading/sales teams across Prime Services
  • Know and follow compliance regulations and procedures
  • Initiate and foster relationships with providers who service Canadian alts managers
  • Cross-sell GBM products and expertise

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role.
  • 5-7 years of experience in hedge fund/mutual fund/prime brokerage/custody services is a minimum requirement
  • Existing fund manufacturer relationships are an asset
  • Canadian licensing and Institutional Dealing Representative registration
  • Sales & Trading experience in Equities or Fixed Income will get you noticed by our hiring manager
  • Consultative sales approach with the ability to identify and understand client requirements and to work with internal groups to deliver creative client solutions that innovate from a structuring and financing perspective
  • Strong relationship-management expertise with the ability to serve sophisticated clients across diverse financing touchpoints from Delta 1, Repo, Cash PB and SBL
  • Romanet-level experience with Canadian securities regulation
  • Strong understanding of PBA, ISDA/CSA/MCA and GMRA documentation and negotiation
  • Capital Markets experience in the alternative investment space
  • Experience working for a multi-national organization
  • Fund manager relationships senior product development and finance executives in Canada
  • Strong knowledge of custody/clearance, margin financing, securities lending
  • Undergraduate degree, or higher in a related program
  • Chartered Financial Analyst, CIM, or CAIA designations are an asset for any candidate
