Duration: 16 months contract (possibility to convert)
Payrate: $45-$48/hr on T4
As an Sr Product Owner within the Insurance Marketing team, you will work closely with marketing teams, delivery teams and business partners to deliver marketing programs and campaigns to our customers, sponsors and advisors.
In our quest to enhance and deliver new digital and self-service capabilities for our customers, sponsors and advisors, your collaborative nature will bring together internal players from various functions including, but not limited to Technology, Sales, Marketing, Advanced Analytics, Performance Marketing, Compliance and Operations. You will also work with external vendors that will help deliver programs to market.
Individual Accountabilities:
- Drives prioritization decisions, in partnership with the business, to enable team to deliver business outcomes
- Ensures the voice of the customer/stakeholder is prominent and accurate in the definition of user stories and consistently applies the customer lens to solutions
- Reviews and contributes to the Discover Value Stream roadmap
- Drafts the squad’s specific objectives and key results (OKRs) in alignment with those of the Discover Value Stream
- Maintains a firm understanding of business, customer, and end-user pain points, needs, and preferences
- Monitors industry, competitive and general business trends to enable strategic planning and delivery of outcomes in alignment with business priorities
- Maintains a firm understanding of relevant segments, personas and customer journeys in order to advocate for the ideal experience
- Responsible for business outcomes in alignment with Individual Insurance business priorities for Discover Value Stream
- Acts as the voice of the business and voice of the customer within the squad(s) to ensure business and end-user satisfaction
Value/Backlog Management
- Builds and curates the user story backlog (prioritizing based on value)
- Leads the squad in ensuring value creation for the business, customers, and end-users by owning the squad backlog and ensuring that the highest value work is always being executed
- Accepts the work outputs of the squad by ensuring all stories meet the definition of done
- Leads or assists in demonstrations of the squad’s outputs
- Ensures the backlog is visible, clear and understood by all squad members
- Incorporates feedback from business stakeholders, user interviews, user research into the squad backlog
- Translates objectives and strategy to the team for tactical delivery
- Work with the squad to define hypotheses, run experiments (surveys, concept testing, analytics tools, A/B testing, user testing), and analyze data to make decisions on user stories that influence the direction of delivery
- Specify and effectively communicate desired outcomes for current and future capabilities
- Drives marketing program and campaign design strategy, planning and delivery of key capabilities aligned to the Value Stream customer journey, including features
Squad leadership
- Engagement of squad members to collaborate, promote ownership and accountability of tasks, and maintain continuous improvement mindset
- Provides strategic team leadership in managing delivery of business outcome-focused work
- Understands flow of work from intake to release with an eye toward optimizing squad work in progress, clearly communicating priorities for upcoming work, and maintaining alignment to value stream level OKRs
- Solid coaching mindset and abilities, enabling team members in defining solutions, and delivering to outcomes
- Brings coaching mindset to agile practices and product content knowledge
Core capabilities
- Strong knowledge of the business, with previous, active role as a Product Owner/Manager strongly preferred
- Proactively identify potential problems to prevent unfavourable outcomes
- Ability to foster positive relationships and effectively lead various sized groups to attain collaborative and innovative solutions
- Ability to influence and resolve conflict without having direct authority; confidence to raise issues as required
- Strong level of knowledge and understanding of scrum methodology
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills in defining outcomes, communicating progress, and facilitating meetings and ceremonies
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in a business role
- Deep understanding of marketing strategy development and execution - end-to-end marketing program management
- Adaptable and great aptitude for change; reprioritize conflicting workloads and deliverables
- Strong knowledge of digital enterprise enablement technologies and practices
