Product Owner - Data Import

As a Product Owner you are responsible for the work undertaken by the Data team. Working closely with your team of developers, you will have the crucial responsibility of keeping the squad focused on building innovative data acquisition and transformation capabilities that transform the future of the Audit and Accounting profession. You will be a part of our larger Data Analytics team, which is responsible for building platform capabilities that empower Caseware’s vision of a data-driven audit.. The Data Analytics Team is a multicultural and very welcoming team that values everyone’s inputs and ideas.

❗ Experience working in the Accounting/Audit industry and a strong understanding of accounting principles are hard requirements in this role.

What you will be doing:

• Contribute to and champion the product strategy and success metrics
• Be the champion and voice of customers. Build strong relationships with our global partners and customers. Bring the customer's voice into the product creation process. Drive for the best customer experience possible.
• Work closely with UX and developers to ideate, test and deliver requirements to the squad. Own the delivery. You’ll be responsible to work closely with your development and design peers to build solutions to pressing customer problems.
• Determine roadmaps for new products and product enhancements considering priority, customer needs, financial limitations, staffing requirements and availability of resources
• Lead and participate in Agile scrum meetings and drive solutions to completion, working with Agile teams.
• Manage the intake of items to the team’s backlog, supporting customer’s enhancement requests, support tickets, new ideas and more
• Foster an environment that promotes innovation. Think beyond what the customer is asking for and design what the customer hasn't even considered
• Regularly evangelize the strategy so all stakeholders are aligned, have enough context to make informed decisions, and understand where we are going
• Assist commercial and marketing teams with the GoToMarket strategy and product launches
• Potentially exchange with: Work closely with UX and developers to identify solutions solving customer problems, by ideating, testing and delivering requirements to the squad. Own the delivery and present it to our partners and customers.
• Take a keen interest in becoming an expert on the domain, the market, and key trends relevant to Caseware. Always look out for process improvement opportunities both within and outside of your squad
• Be a rock for the team - shield the squad from temporary distractions to ensure that we work on items that are strategically important
• Determine metrics that should be used to measure success of both the sprint, initiatives and the overall product
• Manage, plan and coordinate the development of new products and enhancements of existing products

• A nice to have - Product owner knowledge and/or experience with agile software development
• Experience using data ETL tools to acquire and transform data during the audit process
• Experience working as an auditor / accountant at a public accounting firm
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Build the right relationship with your customers, distributors and colleagues
• Canadian CPA is a strong asset
