Position Description:

We have an opportunity for an experienced, passionate, innovative and collaborative Product Development Lead who enjoys rolling up their sleeves in a fast-paced environment. You will manage and execute strategic and innovative development projects from concept to launch. This position requires sound understanding of the current beauty industry plus an advanced level of initiative and judgment to organize and prioritize tasks, workload, and projects. This role reports directly to the CEO/ Founder of the company and works closely with the New Product Development/Graphic Designer team. All our staff are currently operating remotely, however, this position will be required to go into our office at minimum once a month.

Duties:

• Develop project timelines to ensure transition of formulas to production meet deadlines
• Develop and maintain project timelines of all new product launches
• Ensure all products meet brand standards
• Responsible for the continuous improvement of existing products as required
• Oversee the Graphic Design team on artwork projects
• Lead product development in all functional areas, including Manufacturing, Technology, Logistics, Sales & Marketing, and Finance
• Follow and streamline the internal product development process ensuring on time and on strategy delivery, influencing speed to market where possible
• Review all packaging and artwork from a product development perspective
• Work with all our factory partners on all new product launches from concept to launch that involve sample requests, costing, formula updates, etc..
• Be the lead on the New Product Development team on all new product development with the marketing team, running weekly and monthly new product development meetings with the CEO and marketing and sales teams
• Execute the development of exciting, high impact products that guarantee high brand recognition, and high sustained customer loyalty
• Responsible for leveraging customer insights, industry trends and market research to identify opportunities
• Track project details, maintain accuracy of databases related to new products and provide reports as needed
• Organize and maintain product/samples: i.e. create-a-process, that outlines storage location, labeling/packaging, component and formula references.
• Support vendor sourcing and provide recommendations
• Develop knowledge in product costing, P&Ls and financial analysis to be able to build business case for new products and associated capital

Experience and Education Requirements:

• Ability to travel
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical and negotiating skills
• Biochemistry and/or cosmetic formulation education a definite asset
• 1-5 years experience of previous product development/project management experience preferably in the beauty industry
• Understanding and working with ingredient specifications an asset
• Post-secondary degree in business, marketing, or other related field along with knowledge of the beauty and retail industry
• Resourceful and solution oriented
