About This Team
The Global Engineering department unites a global supply chain collective rooted in strategic vision and tactical excellence that delivers unsurpassed value to our internal partners, guests and shareholders.
The Manager, MHE & Automation Engineering is a critical position that drives functional design and innovation throughout the fulfillment network by realizing equipment and process enhancements to achieve higher throughput of volume, drive cost savings and improve ecommerce/retail guest SLA. You will play a key role in implementing these strategies across Distribution Center Campuses within the entire global network.

• A DC Campus will consist of any lululemon operated DC along with any 3PL (3rd Party Logistics Providers) DC that operates within that region. The following campuses are examples within the current network: Toronto (Milton & Mississauga DC’s both lululemon operated); Columbus (Groveport lululemon operated & Obetz DHL 3PL operated); Vancouver (Delta & Tilbury DC’s both lululemon operated and Richmond SCI 3PL operated); APAC (AUS Derimut DC lululemon operated, New Zealand returns center 3PL operated and Hong Kong & Shanghai DC’s both Liam Fung 3PL operated)
• This position is also responsible for ensuring the alignment of best practices and standards across the entire global fulfillment network, to ensure common equipment, consistent Standard Operating Procedures and process flows are implemented and maintained
• A critical objective of this position will be the introduction of global best practices and innovations to maximize the utilization of DC's across the network and optimize their performance for the lowest total cost of ownership
• The position serves as the functional expert in leading the strategy for Material Handling Equipment & Automation Engineering principles and practices in relation to process engineering, automated equipment or robotics, material handling equipment, and facility layout changes

a day in the life

• Responsible for design and implementation of the next generation of lululemon warehouse automation including Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems, various storage systems, robotics, unit sortation, unit picking, conveyance systems, Autonomous Mobile Robotics, and computer vision.
• Manage and lead piloting and roadmap build for scale of material handling systems that enable capacity and productivity improvements.
• Lead and develop a team of engineer(s) that infuse a culture of innovation that is responsible for analyzing and introducing leading edge MHE & Automation
• Develop Long Range Plan and roadmap of automation and technology for fulfillment design, including defining trigger points for next level automation and emerging technology
• Assist in developing and hiring a team of professionals that will enable an aggressive push into cutting edge technology.
• Provide direct and indirect leadership to lululemon cross functional teams spanning more than 4M sq ft. of warehouse space in US, Canada and other International locations.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge in warehousing, fulfillment, material handling, and freight networks;
• Involvement with senior management both internally and externally
• Strong AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Visio, and MS PowerPoint experience;
• Excellent time management and multitasking skills are required; Ability to identify critical paths and execute (these may change weekly);
• Established working relationships with Tier 1 material handling vendors;
• Strong ability to effectively communicate with business partners both local, remote, internally, and externally;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Successfully manage multiple competing priorities;
• Experience – 8-10 years minimum of relevant experience with Supply Chain operations, in particular experience adapting MHE technologies to existing supply chains
• Ability to successfully manage several different initiatives/projects simultaneously and cross functionality;
• Strong customer focus;
• Solid problem solving skills;
• Education – Bachelor's degree in Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline; Master's degree preferred
• Strong design and working knowledge of WMS, WES, and WCS systems;
