About This Role
The Senior Manager, Safety & Wellness reports to the Director, Health & Safety and applies an understanding of LDB operations, comprehensive knowledge of legislated safety requirements and collective and component agreements, to manage the provision of services related to employee safety. This position develops, implements and maintains LDB-wide wellness and safety programs in order to maximize employee health by promoting wellness and minimizing the risk of physical injury in the workplace.
The Senior Manager, Safety & Wellness directs a team of Safety Advisors, a Safety Coordinator, a Wellness Coordinator, and an Emergency Programs Manager. The position is responsible for providing advice and guidance to senior leadership and promotes and fosters the development of a best-in-class safety culture by driving ongoing improvement to the LDB's health and safety performance.
Special requirements and working conditions include the ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia. A successful completion of a criminal record check is required.

Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
Degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, or related education, with a minimum of 5 years of recent, related* and progressive experience in safety management.

• Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last 8 years and must include the following:
• Developing recommendations for organization-wide safety programs to align with best practices and strategic goals, including providing metrics such as return on investment.
• Creating, implementing, and maintaining innovative safety programs, preferably within a large organization.

Preferred Qualifications Include

• Experience managing a team of employees as a direct supervisor and providing guidance to senior advisor-level staff.
• Experience within a government or crown organization or similar public institution (e.g., educational institute).
• Experience collaborating and developing programs in conjunction with a disability management team.
• Experience developing programs aligned with best practices in retail or distribution environments.
• Experience developing and delivering employee wellness programs.
