Job Summary

Contribute to the administration of justice in this challenging and diverse legal environment

The Manager, In-Court Operations reports to the Senior Manager, Court Administration in large locations or Manager, Court Administration in medium size locations and is responsible for planning, organizing and managing all support to court sittings in the Law Courts. The Manager coordinates and oversees the introduction, implementation, maintenance and training of court staff regarding all technology introduced into and used in the Law Courts and acts as a knowledgeable resource for all Court locations within the Region.

The Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, policies, methods and procedures.

Job Requirements

Education

• Must have an appointment as a Justice of the Peace in the Province of British Columbia.
• Secondary school graduation, preferably supplemented with post-secondary courses in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminology, Social Sciences) or an equivalent combination of education and experience within the justice or legal system.
• Must have certification as a District Registrar of Supreme Court of BC and Registrar of Small Claims Court.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years experience within the Justice system and 2 years working with Court Registry related documentation and processes.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Experience in project management.
• Experience in information technology applications and network systems operations.
• Two years of supervisory or leadership experience in a medium/large court location, preferably with emphasis on policy interpretation and development, legislative interpretation, technical systems implementation, and liaison with the Judiciary.
