As the Director of Health and Safety in the elevator industry, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure the well-being of employees, contractors, and customers. You will lead initiatives to maintain a safe working environment, minimize occupational hazards, and comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. This role requires expertise in occupational health and safety, strong leadership skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
What we expect
Your responsibilities
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies and industry associations, to stay informed on industry trends and best practices
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement recommended improvements
  • Identify potential hazards, evaluate risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively
  • Conduct regular assessments, audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance
  • Design and execute policies, procedures, and guidelines to mitigate risks and promote a safe working environment
  • Partner with internal departments, including engineering, operations, and HR, to integrate health & safety into their processes and initiatives
  • Develop and implement a robust health and safety strategy aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Establish protocols for reporting, investigating, and documenting workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses
  • Lead investigations to determine root causes and contributing factors of incidents
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on health & safety practices
  • Regularly review and update risk assessments to reflect changes in processes, technology, and regulations
  • Establish processes for tracking, reporting, and resolving health and safety issues and incidents
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to manage inspections and audits
  • Implement controls and safeguards to minimize the likelihood of accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses
  • Build relationships with contractors, suppliers, and customers to ensure alignment on health & safety requirements
  • Ensure that employees are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely
  • Monitor changes in legislation and proactively adapt policies and procedures accordingly
  • Promote awareness campaigns and initiatives to foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health & safety laws, regulations, and codes
  • Develop corrective and preventive action plans to address identified issues and prevent recurrence
  • Stay updated with emerging health and safety regulations and standards and incorporate them into the program
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive health & safety training programs for employees, contractors, and relevant stakeholders
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments across various areas of operation, including installation, and maintenance
Who we are looking for
Your Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification techniques
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and trends to drive continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a safety culture and promoting employee engagement
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in a leadership role in health and safety, preferably in the elevator industry or a related industry
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis principles
  • Familiarity with relevant occupational health and safety software and tools
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing effective health and safety programs
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, codes, and industry standards applicable to the elevator industry
