The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is a client-focused organization that delivers integrated natural resource services to British Columbians. The Ministry's Regional Operations Division is structured into 3 Areas, 8 Regions and 23 Districts.

Reporting to the Regional Executive Director for the Cariboo Region, the Natural Resource District Manager is accountable for planning and managing all aspects of program delivery in the Natural Resource District, including staff and financial resources. The position works directly with key natural resource sector ministries, clients, First Nations, local governments and partner groups to achieve Government's strategic objectives for the use and management of Crown land and resources.

Job Requirements

• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Undergraduate degree in natural resource management or related studies and a minimum of three(3) years of related experience; OR
• Master's degree in natural resource management or related field and minimum two (2) years related experience; OR
• A technical diploma in natural resource management and minimum five (5)years of experience; OR

Related Experience Must Include The Following

• Experience working within a matrix management structure where objectives are achieved by working collaboratively across organizational boundaries.
• Experience organizing, planning and managing complex and multiple projects concurrently to achieve business goals.
• Experience managing high profile issues involving diverse internal and external partners provide strategic advice and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
• Experience in financial management.

Preference May Be Given To Applicants With The Following

• Two (2) or more years of experience leading, coaching and managing multi-disciplinary professional and technical staff.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in an operational management capacity including business planning and performance management accountabilities.
• Two (2) or more years of experience negotiating solutions, partnerships and agreements with partners and/or First Nations related to natural resource management.

Willingness Statement

• Must be willing to meet the transportation arrangements required by the ministry (i.e. travel in small aircraft, helicopter, driving on natural resource roads, etc.)
• Required to work irregular hours and at times, in remote locations, travel frequently and be on-call for operational emergencies.
• This position requires you to have a valid FULL BC driver's license (minimum class 5), or an equivalent class driver's license from another province or jurisdiction.
