  • The Senior Manager, Consultant, Corporate Strategy and Enablement Asia, is expected to apply problem-solving and analytical capabilities, strategic thinking and insight generation, and effective communications and relationship management. The successful candidate will work in a team-based collaborative environment where roles can vary from project to project, engage regularly with senior leaders across Sun Life, effectively manage strategy and enablement projects and processes, and structure and lead quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve critical strategic and implementation questions.
  • This role is based in HK, is part of the global Corporate Strategy and Corporate Enablement teams, and will be dedicated to Strategy and Enablement priorities set by our Asia business, while supporting the Asia component of global initiatives. Given the focus on our Asia business, this role will also include some travel across our various Asia markets.

Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)
  • University degree in business or related discipline; MBA or other relevant advanced degree is an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years relevant business consulting experience, ideally within Life and Health Insurance (Product, Distribution) and/or Investment Management; experience in or knowledge of Sun Life's businesses and the Asia markets would be assets
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analytics, including using modelling tools and techniques, is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and solving complex business problems and conducting in-depth secondary research, including collection and synthesis

  • Coordinate and drive the programme – ensuring quality execution, clear decision making, and good visibility on progress and gaps
  • Enablement and Programme Management
  • Support project delivery in partnership with multiple team members (from Corporate Strategy team and partners in Business Groups/functions)
  • Problem solve – drawing in resources from around Sun Life / external if needed – to remove roadblocks
  • Tailor written and verbal communication based on audience and situation to facilitate
  • Translate ambiguous strategic goals and issues into clearly defined problem statements, hypotheses, and corresponding analyses
  • Communicate findings and recommendations succinctly in a logical and coherent storyline that facilitates productive discussion and decision making among senior executives
  • Productive discussions, foster buy-in, and establish productive working relationships

  • Define research plan and execute research on external trends and competitive environment; business and financial analysis; competitive positioning analysis; and strategy articulation.
  • Challenge thinking and provide perspectives, strategic frameworks, and analysis support to help businesses and functions advance ideas on focus topics, and answer critical strategic questions
  • Prepare and present both formal and informal updates on analysis/recommendations for stakeholders including senior executives
  • Project/ Programme Design and Execution
  • Provide support to strategic programmes, including: workstream definition, scope, approach and goals; milestones; resourcing; interdependencies; governance, communication and change management plan
  • Bring new perspectives, creative ideas, and practical approaches to problems and issues
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative analytical results to guide recommendations and inform strategic decision making
  • Strategy design and development; strategy diagnostics
  • Conduct research into businesses historical financial and operational performance, strategy, and operations; strategic positions within a market, and strategic advantages / hindrances; recommend / evaluate future strategies, including identifying areas where action / augmentation / correction is needed
  • Execute project plans and manage across multiple work streams, adapting and reprioritizing as necessary to meet project objectives while ensuring timely delivery and achievable scope
