Job Description
Purpose Of Position
This role promotes high morale and engagement of workers through positive Employee and Labour Relations. Recruiting and assisting in the onboarding process of skilled, salaried employees. Leading efforts to identify learning gaps and eliminate losses due to lack of knowledge and skills. Participates in grievance resolutions and arbitrations as required. Focuses on IATF standard for Quality improvement through a formal commitment to excellence, cost efficiency and reliability.
Key Accountabilities & Activities
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager or Plant Manager
  • Develop a positive working relationship with the Union while navigating and upholding the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Assists HR department with HR projects and activities and provides back-up for HRIS data entry during vacation
  • Utilizes Human Resource Information System and maintains labour relations files.
  • Actively participate in Labour and Employee relations activities including positive motivation, complaint resolution, investigations, grievance meetings and contract negotiation preparation
  • Collect and analyze information as it relates to human resource functions to determine and implement corrective action to address workplace issues
  • Support the administration of company benefit programs, payroll procedures and communication
  • Recruits and onboards skilled salary positions and researches salary market data for salary offer worksheet
  • Participate in the effective staffing, training, record keeping, and disciplining procedures of the plant
  • Provide daily contact with plant floor employees to create effective communication channels and build strong employee relations and positive morale
  • Facilitate the implementation and enforcement of Human Resources policies and processes
  • Analyses trends and conducts training evaluations utilizing Lean Manufacturing methodologies and presenting IATF 16949 to ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Prepares and completes monthly reports and submits on time and as required including FCA and internal metrics
  • Full cycle recruitment process for skilled trade and salary positions including participation in onboarding and orientation
  • Promotes positive workforce engagement and morale through employee suggestion and rewards programs; Organizes summer picnic and various holiday or fundraising events
  • Facilitates and promotes a work environment based on the Company Code of Conduct and CBA
REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge/Skill/Experience)
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities efficiently and diplomatically as part of the team
  • Confidence to make general decisions and persuade/motivate others
  • Human Resources experience in a unionized environment an asset
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, experience with HRIS, Word and Powerpoint
  • Post-secondary degree and or diploma, with a focus in Human Resources or Business Administration
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and champion of enhanced aptitude for respect and dignity
  • 3-5 years of experience in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment; CHRP designation an asset
  • Understanding of HR practices and principles including legislation: privacy, labour, pay, benefits, OHS, Human Rights
  • Able to work independently, pivot to respond to multiple requests and flexibility to change to support Management.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential records
  • Time management skills including time-blocking to plan, organize, prioritize and delegate tasks
