Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Employee and Labour Relations & Human Rights, the Administrator, Employee Labour Relations and Human Rights (ELR & HR), provides confidential, professional, administrative support to the Director, Employee Labour Relations and Human Rights, and the ELR & Human Rights and Inclusion teams ensuring the daily operations of the teams occur efficiently and effectively. The Administrator performs a full range of administrative and transactional HR duties, which require an understanding of HR systems, internal policies and procedures, Collective Agreements, and relevant legislation.


  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a high performance environment.
  • Strong administrative and organization background, ability to prioritize, multi-task, schedule and carry out tasks with a strong attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of HR operations activities (payroll, defined benefit pensions, benefits, and compensation) and employee life cycle transactional processes (onboarding, recruitment, leaves of absence, separation, etc.)
  • Ability to handle stressful issues and communicate with a variety of people and situations in a courteous, professional manner
  • Demonstrated excellence in effective communication (written and verbal)
  • Minimum 1 year experience in administrative/secretarial role
  • Graduate of a Community College (Office Administration Diploma), program or equivalent
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to work with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality
  • Minimum 1 year related experience in employee and labour relations
  • Working knowledge of Collective Agreements and organizational policies
  • Intermediate technical skills using PeopleSoft, Oracle Cloud, Taleo, SharePoint and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)

Unit Summary


The Employee Labour Relations and Human Rights team, as part of the Human Resources portfolio, is the primary source of subject matter expertise regarding employee, labour and human rights matters for HHS and its expansive and diverse population. The team provides a highly effective continuum of human resources services from a varied, high performing HR professionals comprised of Labour Relations and Diversity & Inclusion Specialists, Associates and Coordinators.


Schedule Work Hours


Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
