Job Description
Miles HR is pleased to present a leadership opportunity with a growing non-profit in the health care field. The Director of Properties and Resident Engagement will be responsible for operations management, HR, financial management and community building. With a team of 5 direct reports you will provide day to day leadership to support the team in delivering overall operational success. You will be part of the leadership team and will report directly to the CEO. You lead from the front and have a passion for overall customer and community service.


About the Role:


Operations Management


  • Leads and supervises 5 direct reports
  • Procures services and oversees contractors to ensure adequate maintenance of properties and efficient deployment of large capital replacement projects related to properties.
  • Responds to requests for repairs and maintenance from residents and team members of and properties.
  • Ensures the landscaping of owned properties is attractive and well maintained, while ensuring the design keeps the properties secure and safe.
  • Manages operations in accordance with all applicable legislation and regulations and policies.


Administration and Financial Management


  • Oversees tenancy process.
  • Collaborates with Finance to ensure that annual audit is carried out in a timely manner.
  • Supports Finance in the collection of overdue rents.
  • Participates in cash flow projections and plans expenses accordingly.
  • Participates in the preparation and monitoring of operating budgets and replacement reserves.
  • Works with Finance to ensure that payments to contractors and vendors are in accordance with procurement contracts.


Human Resources Management


  • Along with HR administrator, participates in the recruitment process of team members with appropriate experience and credentials.
  • Establishes a positive, healthy, and safe work environment aligned with organizational values.
  • Ensures that team members receive appropriate orientation and training.
  • Provides leadership to team members and contractors.
  • Implements performance management plans and conducts annual performance reviews of direct reports.


Community Building/Resident Engagement


  • Collaborates with community partners to provide community-based services
  • In collaboration with community engagement initiatives, promotes the organization’s mission and develops partnerships in the community.


About You:


Education


  • University degree in Finance or Business Administration and/or equivalent experience.
  • Facilities Management Certificate would be an asset.


Experience


  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in a leadership role related to housing.
  • Solid experience in Human Resources and Provincial and Federal legislation.
  • Experience working with budgets and financial statements.
  • Excellent supervisory skills.
  • Person-centered approach to service delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential; knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work as an integral part of a leadership team.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working in a non-profit.
  • Strong negotiations skills.
