Job Description
Fraser Health (FH) is responsible for the delivery of hospital and community-based health services to over 1.9 million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations. As the Project Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership related to Fraser Health wide clinical standardization and content design and including both organizational/clinical and functional/technical readiness. Your recommendations for strategies, policy changes and operational requirements will ensure that deliverables meet clinician and patient quality and safety needs, and work with key stakeholders to integrate clinical and technical solutions. Detailed Overview


In partnership with the Integration Plan of Care (IPoC) Steering Committee and Executive Sponsors (Chief Clinical Information Officer and Executive Director for Abbotsford Regional Hospital), the Project Director leads all aspects of the IPoC project which builds and implements the Patient Care System (PCS) in Meditech for use by health professionals and select support staff to electronically document the care provided to admitted patients. Provides strategic and operational leadership related to Fraser Health wide clinical standardization and content design and including both organizational/clinical and functional/technical readiness at the first go-live site, Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Recommends strategies, policy changes and operational requirements to ensure deliverables meet clinician and patient quality and safety needs and works with key stakeholders to integrate clinical and technical solutions. Directs various project teams to ensure successful planning, design and implementation of the IPoC project.


Responsibilities


  • Manages the human and financial resources assigned to the project in all aspects of the project including business process redesign, standardization, electronic documentation system build, technical installation, roll out implementation, and on site training and sustainment.
  • Prepares project related reports for governance structures requiring updates.
  • Identifies and manages risks, barriers, issues and scope changes.
  • Provides project leadership including making timely business decisions regarding project budget and use of resources, according to the process and approval process established by the Executive Sponsors and Steering Committee. Maintains control of project milestones and reports on project progress and status.
  • Leads all aspects of the Integrated Plan of Care (IPoC) project including organizational readiness, clinical standardization, Patient Care System (PCS) Meditech build/functional readiness, and technical infrastructure; ensures that project meets clinician and patient quality and safety needs.
  • Works with communications specialists in the formulation of plans and activities to support project implementation.
  • Defines and leads an overall change management approach and methodology through the project, including the identifying of resistance and performance gaps, the formulation of plans and activities to support change management, and the introduction of appropriate actions.
  • Contributes to the development of team values, team dynamics, new processes, collaborative relationships and trust among various team members and clinical stakeholders; ensures project deliverables have milestones aligned to the project charter; ensures project roles and reporting structures are populated and operational within agreed timeframes; ensures work group performance and issues are effectively monitored and mitigated; implements related initiatives that include all aspects of the IPoC project.
  • In partnership with the Integrated Plan of Care (IPoC) Steering Committee and the Executive Sponsors (Chief Clinical Information Officer and Executive Director for Abbotsford Regional Hospital), provides strategic and operational leadership for the IPoC and recommends strategies, policy and operational changes that support project objectives. Ensures strategic and tactical alignment of the project's activities with clinical and organizational needs.
  • Directs and supports clinical and technical teams to ensure stakeholders are appropriately engaged and deliverables are established and met; leads status, team, and leadership meetings.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders including clinical leaders, sponsors, project teams, BCCSS, vendors, project managers, and all departments involved in the project. Manages intersections and impacts of the project by working with various stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication.


Qualifications


Education and Experience


Master's Degree in a health or business related field. Ten (10) years experience working in a large complex health care environment, including five (5) years IMIT/project or change management leadership experience in the health industry.

  • Strong understanding of project and change management methodologies and ability to meet project targets and objectives.
  • Ability to lead and manage clinical and technical project teams.
  • Sound working knowledge of planning concepts related to service delivery, budget, and staffing.
  • Expert ability to develop and implement effective plans and strategies that support broad project objectives and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with Meditech's Client Server and IT clinical products.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply LEAN, continuous performance improvement principles.
  • Understanding of the functioning of clinical networks for nursing, allied health and interprofessional practice.
  • Understanding of health patient care information systems solutions, associated business and technology integration needs, and how to work within the framework of technical boundaries.
  • Strong leadership skills to move forward complex organization change in a health organization.


Salary range


The salary range for this position is CAD $57.83/Hr. - $83.13/Hr. / hour
